Fixed vacancy in Darwin for 12 months
As the Director of Research, you will be the leader of a professional team responsible for anthropological research supporting the protection of sacred sites across the Northern Territory. You will be responsible for: setting the strategic direction of the research team; ensuring the research and consultative methodology is at the highest standard; and overall management of the anthropological teams in Darwin and Alice Springs. Reporting to the CEO and as part of the Executive Management Group you will be supported by three research managers and an anthropological research team of 13. You will have a significant amount of autonomy to deliver the organisational outcomes including the coordination and management of the team focused on anthropological and related research, special projects, and operational outcomes of the Authority in accordance with the Northern Territory Aboriginal Sacred Sites Act.
There will be professional development and training opportunities for you to grow your skills and provide a professional pathway while supporting a research team of anthropologists to undertake complex applied anthropology on country with custodian groups of the region. You will be responsible for the research performance and the research outcomes to ensure the quality control and compliance with the Northern Territory Aboriginal Sacred Sites Act and the development of research policy and method.
This is a one-year contract to back fill a parental leave and is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced anthropologist wanting to transition from an operational management role to a strategic executive position, working as part of a small executive team and in a small statutory authority where you can really stretch yourself in a supportive environment.
