Your Role

As the Director of the Sex Discrimination Team, you will play a pivotal role in steering our efforts towards gender equality and addressing discrimination faced by LGBTIQ+ people with an intersectional lens. You will lead a dynamic team to achieve the goals of the Sex Discrimination Commissioner, drive national agendas on law and policy reform, manage complex programs, and drive impactful change across Australia.

Key Priorities in the role

Strategic Program Management: Oversee and deliver the Sex Discrimination Team’s program, ensuring all projects are effectively managed and aligned with our goals. Navigate challenges, monitor progress, and seek growth opportunities to enhance program outcomes.

Strategic Policy and Program Advice: Provide high-level advice on gender equality, sex discrimination, and LGBTIQ+ issues to the Sex Discrimination Commissioner and across the Commission more broadly. Analyse issues with an intersectional lens and contribute to groundbreaking research and policy development that shape the future of human rights in Australia.

Stakeholder Engagement: Forge and nurture influential relationships with government, businesses, and civil society. Lead public awareness and education initiatives to broaden the impact of our work.

Leadership: Lead a high performing team and offer strategic direction on gender equality and sex discrimination initiatives. Support and guide the LGBTIQ+ program, driving forward our mission with enthusiasm and expertise.
