The internship programme is not intended to lead to a career in the ILO. There should be no expectation of further employment at the end of the internship.

The Emerging and SouthSouth Partnerships Unit (ESPunder the Department for Multilateral Partnerships and Development Cooperation (PARTNERSHIPhas the function of developing and reinforcing partnerships of key strategic importance that promote the Decent Work Agenda, in particular: SouthSouth and Triangular Cooperation (SSTand Engagement with emerging partners, including BRICS and Arab Partners and with countries from the “Global South”.
These partnerships complement those promoted and nurtured by the other work units of PARTNERSHIPS. The unit provides strategic information on development cooperation policies from emerging partners and about UN trends linked to SouthSouth partners to PARTNERSHIPS units as well to relevant departments of the ILO. The current new challenges exacerbated by COVID 19, the current crisis and ongoing conflicts, comprise an additional challenge and calls for a renewed engagement of partners of the South and emerging partners, and on specific areas of work, including the Global Accelerator for Jobs and Social Protection and the Global Coalition on Social Justice. Also the G20 has created a voluntary mechanism of triangular cooperation that the ILO is supporting though our department.
This internship will provide to the incumbent handson experience in international development cooperation, resource mobilization, and partnership management, especially dealing with emerging, SouthSouth and special partnerships. The internship will assist in building and maintaining relationships with key development partners, particularly focusing on funding agreements with countries in the Global South and emerging partners. The tasks will include drafting communication materials, supporting the background materials and negotiations of new funding agreements, and identifying resource mobilization opportunities in G77 + China countries. Additionally, the internship will help raise awareness of SouthSouth and Triangular Cooperation (SSTby organizing study tours, sharing good practices, and supporting capacitybuilding activities for advancing the Decent Work Agenda. Through these tasks, the incumbent will develop valuable skills in partnership engagement, communication, and program management, essential for a career in international development.
The Internship within the Emerging Partnerships and SouthSouth and Triangular Cooperation (SSTfunction provides valuable experience in international cooperation and partnership development, particularly in engaging with emerging partners such as BRICS countries. This internship will support the coordination of triangular cooperation initiatives and work closely with various international bodies, including the G20 and the InterAgency Mechanism on SSTC, in collaboration with the UN Office for SouthSouth Cooperation (UNOSS. This role offers exposure to global policy discussions and contributes to advancing the Decent Work Agenda (DWthrough innovative partnerships, capacity development, and knowledgesharing activities. Interns will also develop an understanding of how global actors collaborate on labour and employment issues and how these efforts are integrated into broader international cooperation strategies.
NB: Interns should expect to devote 10% to 20% of their time to administrative tasks.

Selection process:
Following a first screening by the Human Resources Development Department (HR, hiring departments will shortlist applicants. You will be directly contacted should an internship opportunity match your profile. If you have not been contacted by any department within six months after your application, you can consider that you have not been selected by any department for this roster. If still eligible, you may apply to the next roster.
If shortlisted, you may be contacted by the hiring department for a written test and/or interview. The ILO may use communication technologies such as Skype, Video or teleconference, email, etc for the assessment and evaluation of candidates.
Stipend/Financial compensations:
As an intern in Geneva, you will receive a stipend of 2450 CHF per month from the ILO, unless you receive funding through another institution (for example your university or a foundatio. If you receive partial funding, ILO will cover the difference to ensure you receive 2450 CHF per month. Your travel to Geneva will be at your own expense. In addition to the amounts referred above, each intern shall receive the amount of CHF45 per month, or the equivalent amount in the currency in which the monthly stipend is paid, which is a contribution from the Office towards the cost of medical insurance to cover the period of the internship.
Qualified candidates from nonand underrepresented countries may be eligible for a special fund that provides financial assistance for roundtrip airfare (economy clasin addition to the stipend.
Insurance:
Please note that the ILO does not take responsibility for any costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the internship. You will be responsible for your own insurance coverage for illness and accidents for the duration of the internship at the duty station (whether Geneva or the fiel.
