Role Details

The Department for Human Services, Disability Services division is looking for compassionate and dedicated individuals who are committed to supporting people with a disability to be actively involved in their own lives. The majority of our clients are supported to live in group homes in the community.

Our vision is Everything about you with you, we support and encourage people with disabilities to affect their choices and to use their abilities so they can develop positive skills, valued community roles and a balanced lifestyle.

Special conditions

  • National Police Check required.
  • Employment-related Screening Check required.
  • Some out of hours work may be required.
  • Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
  • Work will include rosters over 24 hours on a seven-day per week basis, and active and passive duty in accordance with the Intellectual Disability Services Award and the individual’s needs.
  • Demonstration to our satisfaction that you are physically capable of carrying out all the duties of the position.
  • Compulsory attendance at an Induction/Training Program, Mentoring and other relevant training deemed necessary by the department.
  • Role Status: Ongoing & Term contracts for multiple DIS1 & DIS2 positions available around Adelaide Metro.

They provide supported independent living to more than 500 people through a range of disability and aged care funding packages, including the NDIS. Screening Checks

If you are new to the department and are invited to an interview, you will be required to produce a National Police Check, which has been issued within six months of your application for the role. National Police Checks can be applied for via the South Australia Police or through an Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission accredited body.

If the role you are applying for also requires an Employment-related Screening Check, you will be required to undergo such assessment as is advised by DHS, including periodic assessment during your employment.
