Job Brief

Working as part of the client’s core Support Worker Team, provide an initial local point of support on the client’s program, by providing direct personal and attendant care supports to the client in line with the care plans and programs, as part of all or either in-home, residential, group home or support living accommodation settings, to help clients achieve their goals and meaningful engagement in activities of their choice, to promote independence and maximise choice and control.

Roster: Monday to Sunday

Payrate: $43.93

Shifts are: Morning 6:30AM – 2:45PM

Afternoon 2:30pm-11:00pm,

Active Night 10:45pm-6:45am

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Monitor and ensure day-to-day process of collection, use, storage and dissemination of information and all administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • As required monitor and ensure that documentation is maintained in accordance with relevant legislation requirements and IAG policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, case notes, medication records, behaviour charts, medical and personal profiles and reports pertaining to progress of people we support, as well as organisational information required.
  • As required monitor and supervise the work of other Support Workers and ensure services and care is provided to the required standard and in line with organisational, regulatory and accreditation requirements, policies and procedures.
  • As required and directed participate and cooperate with compliance audits.
  • Perform duties and requirements of the position in line with all organisation policies and procedures, requirements and regulations from funding and regulatory bodies and authorities. .
  • Ensure a safe working environment for yourself, your colleagues and members of the public and report any incident, injury and/or hazard to the responsible line manager, supervisor or team leader as soon as reasonably practicable.
  • In the event of a hazard take steps if safe to do so to ensure the hazard is isolated and contained and does not become a further risk to others.
  • Assist with reporting and entering details of safety incidents into IAG’s incident management system, iONMY.

To be successful in the role and join the Independence Australia Team, you will:

  • Certificate IV in Disability Support or Aged Care.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a Disability Support Worker and minimum 2 experience supporting clients with complex care needs, which may include significant functional, physical and /or intellectual impairment.
  • Competent level knowledge of how to provide complex care including complex bowel care, specialised feeding requirements such as percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) feeding, tracheostomy care, catheter care, administration of medications, pressure care and wound management, etc.
  • Intermediate to advanced level knowledge and understanding of NDIS Code of Conduct guidelines from the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Commission. Able to explain and instruct others.
  • Possess current Police Check, WWCC, First Aid & CPR certificates, and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Be able to provide two sector relevant and recent references.
  • Hold 3+ COVID-19 vaccination doses.
