About the organisation:

Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) is a national network of independent member organisations that give a voice to older people who are eligible or receiving aged care services.

Working with government to influence aged care policy through systemic advocacy, the nine state and territory member organisations deliver advocacy services for older people across Australia.

About the role:

Reporting to the Diversity Program Lead, the Diversity Trainer will be responsible for assisting and implementing a series of interactive workshops for Aged Care providers focused on the rights of all older people to access culturally safe and inclusive services.

This exciting position frequently requires interstate and intrastate travel in order to co-deliver a series of Diversity Education workshop series to Aged Care Providers.

  • Support delivering and facilitating the Diversity Education workshop series across Australia
  • Engage with varied stakeholders around educational content/their involvement in the workshop series
  • Collect data and consult with aged care, health and other stakeholders to support regular review of the education content /delivery strategies to enable evidence-based content for education
  • Identify growth opportunities for expanding the content to new target groups, as well as new modules and new strategies for delivering
  • Co- facilitate online workshops and a Diversity Community of Practice

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience in facilitating engaging training workshops for staff working in aged care and a passion for diversity and inclusion
  • Ability to travel frequently (one week travel, one week from home/office) across Australia to deliver training
  • Strong capacity for communication, coaching and mentoring across a variety of stakeholders as well as excellent presentation, facilitation and writing skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment, working together to achieve desired outcomes
  • Be proficient at Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and display excellent multitasking, time management and organisational skills, without losing attention to detail
  • A certificate or diploma qualification in Training or equivalent is highly regarded
  • Experience in developing and facilitating Communities of Practice is highly regarded
  • Successful candidates will be asked to undergo a Police Check and vulnerability check as a condition of employment
