Job description
The Higher Education Ordinance states that a person who is employed, as a PhD student should primarily devote himself/herself to his/her own studies. However, an employee may to a limited extent work with education, research and administration. Such work may, before the doctoral degree has completed, not cover more than 20% of a full-time work.

The construction sector has a significant role to play in the transition to a circular and resource-efficient economy. In the European Union, this sector accounts for 50% of all extracted materials, 35% of the waste generation, and up to 12% of Green House Gas (GHG) emissions. Greater material efficiency and circularity can substantially reduce these emissions, waste, and the amount of extracted materials. However, there are several barriers to the transition to a circular building economy.

The PhD candidate will investigate the conditions and preparedness of the Swedish building sector in the transition towards a circular economy. The PhD candidate will (i) map out and estimate the potential for circularity of various materials coming out of from the renovation of a building, (ii) apply the sociotechnical transition theory to analyse the role of various actors, institution and contextual factors in the transition; and (iii) develop strategies and business models for transition to a circular building sector.
