WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Donor Relations Manager OR Development Manager assists in the planning and implementation of the cultivation of donors capable of major and/or deferred gifts. They conduct exploratory meetings with donors and prospects to determine capacity for giving and build relationships with donors on a professional and personal level. The DRM OR Development Manager provides ongoing opportunities for contact with past and current donors.

The Donor Relations Manager or Development Manager is responsible for the qualification and disqualification of major and planned gift prospects through the business unit’s donor discovery process. Through this process, the DRM OR Development Manager will eventually build and manage a qualified gift portfolio. This position assists in cultivating and soliciting donors through meetings, trips, events, and other activities. They will work on a variety of activities including providing detailed program information to prospects and drafting personalized correspondence and acknowledgments. They will use the Conservancy’s donor database to update donor information and track activity related to donors. The DRM OR Development Manager understands the basics of influencing factors and the types of assets that may be used for giving and applies that knowledge to interactions with donors and gift asks. They will capitalize on matching gift opportunities when applicable.

The DRM OR Development Manager will travel occasionally, and the position will require some flexible hours with work-life balance prioritized. The work environment may involve infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain. WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience building relationships with donors, volunteers, and staff.
  • Experience in managing and tracking prospects and donors.
  • Experience working across departments.
  • Experience, coursework, or other training in fundraising principles and practices.
  • Ability to determine an individual’s interests, capacity and potential for helping the Conservancy meet its goals, and act appropriately to tie those interests with the Conservancy’s work.
  • Ability to implement and coordinate fundraising plans, including individualized cultivation, solicitation, and recognition plans.
  • Demonstrated experience using diplomacy and tact to build strong relationships and motivate staff and donors.

SALARY INFORMATION

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $60,000-$75,000 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate’s location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
