The United Nations Children’s Fund Jordan Country Office in Amman seeks a dedicated, experienced, highly motivated and proactive Donor Relations Specialist. Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Partnerships, the Specialist will support the coordination of various fundraising channels and activities, ensure engaged and long-term partnerships, and drive revenue growth for both the Country Programme needs as well as for UNICEF globally.

The staff member will deepen collaboration with key donors and provide an interface for environmental scanning, knowledge exchange and resource mobilization for UNICEF Jordan’s Country Programme through support to various fundraising activities and channels, ensuring strategic engagement and development of long-term partnerships.

 

Duties include:

Resource Mobilization Strategy Implementation

  • In collaboration with the Chief of Partnerships, operationalise and monitor the implementation of the Jordan Country Office Resource Mobilisation Strategy.
  • Design effective donor engagement plans in line with the Resource Mobilisation Strategy to help mobilize public and private support for the cause of children.
  • Oversee the implementation of these plans, ensuring they are delivering against agreed outcomes.

 

Donor Analysis and Intelligence

  • Develop and maintain deep knowledge and familiarity with current and prospective donors and partners.
  • Analyze donor assistance frameworks and policies on Jordan.
  • Map potential entry points for UNICEF.
  • Monitor donor funding trends and analyze their potential impact on UNICEF programmes.

 

Strategic Donor Engagement

  • Ensure Senior Management is kept up to date on the latest donor trends and formulate recommendations for strategic approaches and engagement.
  • Expand UNICEF’s network of key interlocutors to build stronger relationships between UNICEF and donors, partners, international financial institutions and other key interlocutors.
  • Serve as a focal point for donors for UNICEF programmes in general and specific grants, liaising with Senior Management and Section Chiefs as required.
  • Provide substantive strategic and programmatic support to the Representative and Senior Management in their engagement with donors, including preparing talking points, donor briefs, background information and presentations.

 

Fundraising and Leveraging Resources

  • Provide strategic direction for fundraising through proactive collaboration with internal and external partners enhancing UNICEF’s visibility and influence.
  • Identify and promote new partnerships and resource mobilization opportunities.
  • Develop and quality assure concept notes and proposals aligned with donor interests and UNICEF’s programme priorities under the Country Programme Document.
  • Develop quality assurance mechanisms for concept note and proposal review.
  • Working with UNICEF Headquarter divisions, ensure the review and approval of all agreements.

 

Donor Reporting

  • Oversee the preparation and on time submission of high-quality, results-based donor reports, working closely with the Deputy Representative, Chiefs of Section and cross cutting sections.
  • Ensure all donor conditionalities have been met and use of funds was in line with donor agreement.
  • In collaboration with the Communications Section, ensure capturing of donor visibility/recognition efforts for donors.
  • Development of Standard Operating Procedures for donor reporting.

 

Knowledge Management

  • Ensure knowledge management systems are effectively managed and utilized.
  • This includes the UNICEF Jordan Relationship Management Database (UNISON), ensuring up to date information on all interactions with donors, financial and non-financial opportunities, due diligence clearances, and donor profiles and intelligence are captured.
  • Track and monitor the pipeline of funds.
  • Assist in the monitoring of key partnerships performance indicators.

 

Others

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure the success of the partnerships team.

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:       
An advanced university degree in international development, public affairs, international relations, political science or other related field.

 

Experience:   
 At least five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in external relations, liaison and/or any resource-mobilization related activities, preferably in an international organization is required.

 

Language Requirements:
Fluency in English is required with knowledge of Arabic or another UN language considered as an asset.
