About the job

Overall purpose of the role: DRC Türkiye”s Protection Programme is currently partner-led, with a portfolio including Legal Aid, Case Management and GBV prevention and response, and an emphasis on Protection Monitoring. In addition, DRC directly implements an Economic Recovery programme with integrated protection mainstreaming across related activities. Under the technical supervision of the Protection Coordinator and the Advocacy, Analysis and Communications Specialist, the Protection Programme Officer will support with technical quality assurance, protection monitoring and communications. The officer will ensure up-to-date information on relevant protection trends, assist in protection monitoring and protection mainstreaming activities, contribute to coordination efforts, and create communication and advocacy materials as required. The officer will be responsible for providing regular protection monitoring updates and briefings to the Advocacy, Analysis and Communications Specialist and the Protection Coordinator, ensuring information feeds into DRC’s advocacy and programmatic priorities

Geographic Scope: Country (Türkiye)

This role has a country focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the country.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Programme Support

• Provide programme support by following up with partners and collaborating organizations on progress toward agreed technical outputs in Protection Monitoring, facilitating learning and collaboration meetings, and maintaining communication on standards, tools, and methodologies with key staff under the supervision of the Protection Coordinator and Advocacy, Analysis and Communications Specialist.
• Maintain up-to-date information on protection coordination mechanisms, services and referral pathways in DRC areas of intervention

Technical Support

• Support protection mainstreaming by facilitating risk assessments, monitoring work plans, ensuring regular follow-up with Focal Points on agreed actions, and escalating challenges to the Protection Coordinator as needed. Support and track referral processes, ensuring information is shared accurately and communication with relevant actors is timely and in line with protection standards.

• Support capacity-building activities, including organization and facilitation of trainings.
• Ensure high-quality and timely submission of interviews with community members for use in Protection Monitoring analysis, in line with agreed targets and sampling methodology.
• Conduct Key Informant Interviews, In-depth Interviews, Focus Group Discussions and surveys for Protection Monitoring, following DRC’s questionnaire guides and in adherence to DRC SOPs, overall methodology and sampling approach.
• Be proactive in reporting to the Protection Coordinator any new observed rights violations and concerning trends reported in interviews or by field staff.

Communications

• Assist the Advocacy, Analysis and Communications Specialist in planning, developing and implementing DRC communication, media and visibility activities in line with donor requirements.
• Collect visual media (e.g., taking photographs, videos etc.) in DRC and partner operations to document programme impact and visibility.
• Collect human-interest stories, photo stories, video content etc. from DRC operations to share with donors and for DRC internal use

Other Activities

• Other activities as required by the Protection Coordinator and the Advocacy, Analysis and Communications Specialist.

Data protection, confidentiality and adherence to protection principles

• At all times, ensure proper and ethical handling of interviews and other sensitive information, maintaining confidentiality.
• Apply and uphold DRC and international standards of confidentiality and data protection throughout all stages of protection monitoring and media/communications activities.
• Ensure informed consent is systematically obtained and archived for all data collection activities, photos, videos, and other media content.
• Other tasks as assigned by the Advocacy, Analysis and Communications Specialist and Protection Coordinator

Carry out all tasks respecting key protection principles, including but not limited to;

• do no harm;

• accountability, and;
• need-to-know principles

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have university degree in research methods, journalism, social work, psychology, law and/or other relevant disciplines.

Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

• 2-3 years working experience in protection programming, research/analysis, or related roles.
• Previous experience in protection work and strong understanding of protection principles and standards
• Previous experience in working with an INGO/NGO is an advantage
• Proactivity and ability to work independently, make rapid assessments and sound judgements
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Prior experience in protection monitoring, including demonstrated experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative interviews, is an advantage
• Essential computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, email, KOBO etc.)
• Fluency in Turkish and English (Essential)
• Fluency in Arabic is strongly preferred

Designation of Duty Station: Country Office (Adana until 31.12.2025, Gaziantep starting from 01.01.2026)
