The Fiji multi-country office covers ten countries including Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), Fiji, Kiribati, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu as well as provides support to regional initiatives.
Within the FSM Multi Country Office (MCO) of the UNDP Pacific Office, the Operations Team provides programme with backbone support and services related to finance, procurement, human resources, digital services, travel, and logistics, as well as common services and MCO transactions support. The team further provides demand driven Common Services to the UN agencies (per agreed procedures). In addition, the team will provide administrative support to UNDP Staff including project personnel on areas such as protocol, visa facilitation, travel, and others.
Under the guidance of the Operations Manager and supervision of the Operations and Travel Associate, the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services ensuring high quality of work. The Driver demonstrates a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact, and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
The Driver provides driving services to the operations and programme staff in the Sub-office, consultants and experts and UN staff on mission.
The key results have an impact on the accurate, safe, and timely execution of the office services.
Duties and Responsibilities
Scope of Work
Provision of reliable and secure driving services:
- Ensures provision of reliable and secure chauffeur services by a) driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items and b) meeting official, high-ranking personnel and visitors at the airport, supporting protocol, visa and customs formalities arrangement when required.
- Coordinate the driving schedule in collaboration with Operations team and the Operations and Travel Associate
Proper use of vehicle:
- Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
Day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle:
- Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.
- Document maintenance and repairs, ensuring vehicle maintenance is properly logged.
Ensures availability of documents/supplies:
- Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, necessary spare parts.
- Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
Provides administrative support:
- Support the Operations and Travel Associate with travel arrangements and facilitation of travel protocol, as well as visa and customs arrangements.
- Provide administrative support to the Receptionist with front counter support, collect and deliver pouch, delivery of mail, issue purchase orders to vendors, collect supplies, put up UNDP flag, maintain supplies of water and Sub office kitchen area properly clean and tidy at all times.
- Perform duties within the functional profile as assigned and deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the office.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- Secondary Education is required.
- Valid Driver’s license.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ work experience as a driver including experience driving others.
- Safe driving record.
- Knowledge of driving rules and regulations.
- Skills and experience in vehicle maintenance and vehicle repairs.
- Experience in working for an international organization and/or high-ranking official is an asset.
Language
- Fluency in English
