Background and Organizational Context

The Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific (RBAP) of UNDP concentrates its efforts on developing the region’s capacity to promote and accelerate action on its progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  It implements the UNDP Strategic Plan in Asia and the Pacific and delivers on UNDP’s partnerships within the region and with development actors in the region. The Bangkok Regional Hub (BRH) of RBAP is the presence which supports the work of the 25 offices in this region.

The Operations Support Team (OST) of BRH is a provider of a variety of time-sensitive operational services to clients of the Hub, the UNDP Thailand Country Office [CO] and other agencies which UNDP supports in Thailand. 

The incumbent demonstrates a client-oriented, flexible approach and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

 

Position Purpose

The Driver provides reliable and safe driving services to Heads of Office of the Bangkok Regional Hub and the Thailand Country Office, other high-ranking UN officials and visitors and administrative services, as required, ensuring high accuracy of work. The Driver demonstrates a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

UNDP adopts a portfolio  approach to accommodate changing business needs and leverage linkages across interventions to achieve its strategic goals. Therefore, UNDP personnel are expected to work across units, functions, teams, and projects in multidisciplinary teams in order to enhance and enable horizontal collaboration.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

1.) Provision of reliable and secure driving services through:

  • Driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items;
  • Meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, visa and customs formalities arrangement when required;
  • Full compliance with implementation of all security measures for the passengers and the vehicle during all trips regardless of the location, destination, and distance of travel.

2.) Proper use of vehicle and Day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through:

  • Ensure cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports;
  • Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangement for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, breaks, car washing etc.;
  • Ensures availability of all the required document/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit and necessary spare parts;
  • Ensures that all immediate actions by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.

3.) Perform any other relevant duties as required:

  • Perform duty as Asset Checker during asset verification exercise in office;
  • Arrangement of meeting rooms when required;
  • Logistic support if required.

Requirements

Education:

Secondary Education is required.

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years (with high school diploma) of relevant work experience as a driver with a safe driving record is required; 
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations is required;
  • Experience in minor repair of the vehicle is desirable; 
  • Experiences working as a driver in an international organization/ UN agency/ NGO would be an advantage;
  • Valid Driver’s license is required.

Language requirement:

Fluency in English and Thai is required.
