Organizational Context
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC or “the Federation”) is the World’s largest volunteer-based humanitarian network. The Federation is a membership organization established by and comprised of its member National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Along with National Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Federation is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The overall aim of the IFRC is” to inspire, encourage, facilitate, and promote at all times all forms of humanitarian activities by National Societies with a view to preventing and alleviating human suffering and thereby contributing to the maintenance and promotion of human dignity and peace in the world.” It works to meet the needs and improve the lives of vulnerable people before, during and after disasters, health emergencies and other crises. In February 2022, a new phase in the armed conflict in Ukraine started. The intensification and spread of hostilities have affected all of Ukraine, causing massive humanitarian needs across all sectors and destroying essential civilian infrastructure. Millions of people are displaced in Ukraine, more than 7 million people have fled to other countries. IFRC and DRC have launched a major Emergency Appeal for Ukraine and Impacted Countries that is coordinated on European regional level – with numerous country level operations ongoing. ICRC, IFRC, DRC and numerous Partner National Societies are integrating their capacities to provide coordinated crisis response in Ukraine and impacted countries. The operational structure will be fully integrated into existing structures at Country / Country Cluster and Regional Office level to ensure full synergies with the overall regional work. This position is based in the support unit of Danish Red Cross office – Kyiv, Ukraine .Working in the Danish Red Cross – country delegation office, the driver/logistics assistant shall carry out role of providing safe and prompt transportation services while also supporting office operations. This includes assisting with administrative tasks, such as document handling, scheduling, and basic clerical duties, in addition to ensuring the maintenance and cleanliness of vehicles and supporting general office needs as required. The Driver/Logistics Assistant has to work closely with the logistics staff members in other field locations.

To provide safe and prompt transportation services and support to the office & logistic operations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Driving
• Drive Danish Red Cross staff in a safe and courteous manner, and according to IFRC driver rules and regulations.
• Always obey IFRC vehicle policy and operating procedures (use of logbook, no drinking and driving, seatbelts, etc.).
• Obey all traffic rules and regulations in the Country, and respect driving speed limits always.
• Responsible for the daily cleanliness of the interior/exterior of the vehicle.
• Conform daily morning assessments of road conditions and security situations when in the field or traveling to the
field.
• Inform ICRC Security Radio Room upon departure/arrival from field sites.
• Inspect and record the condition of the vehicle daily; prepare a weekly maintenance checklist.
• Ensure timely servicing and maintenance of IFRC vehicles, and report to Logistics Department any mechanical problems.
• Ensure vehicle is insured and all legal documents are always in order; inform IFRC Logistics Department three weeks in
advance of any renewals due (i.e. insurance, road license, etc.).
• Keep an inventory of all tools and accessories in the vehicle. Accountable for all vehicle equipment and spares.
• Ensure vehicle security and safety when parking.
• Ensure vehicle is never overloaded and only carries RCRC passengers.
• Assist the Team in loading and unloading cargo.
• Assist with any other duties as required by the supervisor.
Logistics Assistant
• Assist and support with all procurement, logistics and fleet management related activities
• Assist in document filing, Field travel request preparations
• Support in keeping up to date: Asset and Equipment Inventory registers
• Assist with preparation of reports if needed and requested e.g. Fuel Report, etc.
• Support in Warehouse related activities as e.g. stock management and maintenance of premises
Job Duties and Responsibilities (continued)
- Actively work towards the achievement of the Federation Secretariat’s goals.
- Abide by and work in accordance with the Red Cross and Red Crescent principles.
- Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager.
Education
Required:
- Successfully completed the Stay Safe e-learning courses (basic).
Preferred:
- Professional qualification in logistics or equivalent.
- Bachelor graduate or equivalent.
Experience
Required:
- Must have a valid professional driver’s license legal in Ukraine.
- Minimum 3 years of driving experience.
- Must have the exemption to Cross the border.
Preferred:
- Working for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
- Working for a humanitarian aid organisation.
- Experience of managing budgets.
- Assessment skills.
Knowledge, Skills and Languages
Required:
- Valid driving license for light vehicles (manual gears).
- Fluently spoken and written Ukrainian.
- Fluently spoken and written English.
Preferred:
- Logistics operations.
- Market Assessment.
- Knowledge of communications systems (satellite phones, etc.).

- Successfully complete an IFRC driver training course (to be conducted later).
