Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Orthopedic Clinical Lead. The DME Coordinator role will be responsible for managing the day-to-day administrative duties from inventory management, to facilitating insurance verifications and authorizations, to providing personalized fittings, education to the patients, and dispensing durable medical equipment.

Job Duties:

·       Obtain required patient and billing consent Assist with patient education on products and basic exercises that can be done safely while wearing the product.

·       Must be able to provide a high level of product knowledge and education to patients.

·       Responsible to follow healthcare providers protocols and orders effectively.

·       Multi-task based on needs and priority of a high-volume clinic.

·       Maintains work area and personal appearance in a way that reflects professionalism and demonstrates to our patients, visitors and coworkers the importance we place on cleanliness, orderliness and safety

·       Responsible for managing inventory levels and communicating with Orthopaedic management regarding day-to-day services.

·       Provide the best customer service for all patient fittings.

·       Ensure that all necessary documentation is obtained as it relates to payer requirements, standard operating procedures and compliance programs.

·       Track, maintain, and order DME products for the Orthopaedic Department including inventory and equipment.

·       Assist Orthopaedic Department Management with managing profitability

·       Actively promote and foster good relations within the department to include physicians, staff, patients and vendors.

·       Answering phone calls in regards to patient service questions.

·       Assist with any troubleshooting concerning DMEs.

·       Review schedule proactively to ensure proper coverage is verified and confirmed before patient arrives.

·       Submit authorizations as needed.

·       Other duties as assigned by the Orthopaedic Management Team.

Education:

High school diploma or GED is required.

Experience:

One (1) year of directly related experience is required.


One to three years of experience as a DME coordinator, preferably in medical practice environment. Knowledge of DME CPT coding, billing, DME bracing and function of units.
