Job description

About King’s Digital

King’s Digital is a truly collaborative team. We partner with academics and professional services staff across the university, and with our external partners to design, develop and deliver a wide range of educational programmes in line with King’s Education Strategy.

Our current pipeline comprises of online master’s degrees, short courses, bespoke executive education courses, and increasingly, stackable micro-credentials. You will be joining us at an exciting time as we seek to realise our strategic ambition of being a UK leader in online and blended education, specifically in the areas of learning design, development, consultancy, and partnerships.

We are a dynamic team with ambitious growth targets in a priority area of development for King’s. We proudly foster a supportive culture and community which prioritises both individual and collective wellbeing. We actively work to protect and improve the wellbeing of all staff; be it physical, mental or social, and recognise this as central to our work and success.

King’s offers a wide variety of support to employees, including flexible working arrangements, paid maternity/shared parental leave, menopausal support, an active wellbeing programme, training and development opportunities and much more. All of our staff benefit from a generous pension contribution as well.

About the role

The purpose of the role will be to support the team on numerous and varied tasks. You will be responsible for the quality assurance of the content we produce, as well as providing insight on workflows and procedures, flagging issues where necessary.

You’ll focus on achieving and maintaining accuracy, consistency and quality in everything we produce. We are looking for someone with a can-do attitude, who can work unsupervised and with a mindset about constantly improving what we are doing.

This is an excellent entry level position for anyone looking for a career in e-learning.

The role is primarily based at King’s Strand Campus, though you may be required to travel to other campuses on occasion. As part of King’s trial of hybrid working, all team members can work remotely for part of the week if they wish.

This post will be offered on a 2-year fixed term contract.

This is a full-time post – 100% full time equivalent.

Key responsibilities

  • Copyediting and proofreading content, using several style guidelines and referencing systems depending on the programme (e.g. King’s In-house Editorial Style Guide) and ensuring consistency in the layout.
  • Performing functionality checks and ensuring the content is accessible.
  • Reviewing content on different platforms, such as King’s Moodle (KEATS), other virtual learning environments (e.g. FutureLearn), SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
  • Identifying and reporting issues on KEATS using quality assurance (QA) tracking tools and ensuring their resolution.
  • Making sure that media transcription and captioning are accurate and accessible, and transcripts are available to learners.
  • Assisting content developers in simple edits on the content in KEATS.
  • Being up to date with workflows and processes and able to support the team in identifying and resolving issues.
  • Working well with project planning software (e.g. Trello).
  • Updating quality assurance process documentation.

The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.
