About External and Corporate Relations Vice-Presidency (ECR)
The mission of External and Corporate Relations (ECR) is to help deliver financial and political support for the World Bank Group, strengthen the Bank Group’s role as a global thought leader in development by enhancing and safeguarding its reputation, and supporting operational teams to achieve country outcomes. ECR manages corporate communications and global engagement with key stakeholders, including media, civil society, foundations, private sector, donor countries, and international organizations, as well as employee engagement. ECR also manages strategic communications for the World Bank’s Regions and Global Practices and leads the management of reputation risk.
About Fragility Conflict and Violence Group
Addressing issues related to Fragility, Conflict, and Violence (FCV) is critical for the World Bank Group (WGB) to achieve its twin goals of eliminating extreme poverty by 2030 and promoting shared prosperity in a sustainable manner. Recent developments have highlighted the complexity of the FCV agenda, its multifaceted nature, its relevance beyond the Low-Income Countries, and its regional dimensions. The WBG’s FCV Strategy has laid a framework for strengthening the WBG’s programs in FCV-affected countries.
The FCV Group aims to steer and drive the FCV agenda within the WBG, and to ensure consistency, complementarity, and synergies in approaches across the WBG. The FCV Group is led by a Global Director and is comprised of approximately 40 staff distributed across two separate units and a front office.
Duties and Major Accountabilities
This is a key position within the FCV External and Corporate Relations team, and requires a team-oriented, self-driven person with very strong organization skills, who can move between highly varied tasks and function at a high-performance level with limited supervision. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support the drafting of briefs, concept notes, blogs, feature stories, interviews and talking points
- Support and staff virtual events, webinars and podcasts
- Manage (editorial + production) the World Bank Group’s monthly FCV newsletter, sent to subscribers across the WBG.
- Conceptualize, script and create multimedia content like short videos for social media, slideshows and social media postcards
- Ensure relevant digital properties, including the corporate FCV website, People Peace Prosperity campaign website, Development for Peace blog platform and Dev4Peace Twitter channel are updated and well managed, working with an online production STC as needed
- Conceive and execute FCV-related social media campaigns and packages, working with colleagues across the institution as needed
- Track online metrics and create reports for key events and activities.
- Provide overall research and team support
Selection Criteria
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism or other related field and at least two years of relevant work experience OR Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of experience.
- Excellent written and spoken command of English
- Strong writing skills and ability to develop drafts of complex products in a clear, concise, and web-friendly style
- Experience with graphic design and creating multimedia and interactive content (such as slideshows, videos, and timelines)
- Demonstrated working knowledge and application of social media communications principles and other web 2.0 technologies
- Working knowledge and functional proficiency with online performance measurement and impact analysis tools; ability to research, identify, and map intended audiences and stakeholders, and to leverage communication tools and methodologies (such as online monitoring, web analytics, or other tools) to assess their information needs
- High levels of initiative, judgment, and decisiveness in accomplishing tasks; proven ability to work independently; good time-management skills and an eye for detail; ability to work effectively under stress and to juggle multiple tasks within tight deadlines
- Experience in the development sector preferred
- Strong diplomatic, interpersonal, and teamwork skills; sensitivity to working in a multicultural environment

The position will report to the External Corporate Relations Lead, Fragility Conflict and Violence.
