We’re looking for a professional Early Childhood Coordinator (ECC) with relevant experience who wants to take part in a Pilot Project within the Disability Services Programs and Innovations Team.

This opportunity will be 12 month full-time maximum-term until early 2025, working 38 hours per week based in the Brimbank Melton (BMA) region.

BSL is working in partnership with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to deliver the NDIS across metropolitan Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula.

THE ROLE

The Early Childhood Coordinator (ECC) – Pilot is a limited funded position, responsible for the delivery of the Disability Programs and Innovation Primary Service Provider Pilot undertaken by the Brotherhood of St Laurence. This position will form part of a small specialist team delivering community-based family centered information, assessment, and support services in line with the NDIS Early Childhood approach. 

This is a 12-month demonstration pilot aiming to provide timely and effective assistance to families who don’t access NDIS funding through the use of a primary service provider model. This pilot builds on the BSL Disability Services Early Supports offer to demonstrate what supports could influence the developmental trajectory of young children with developmental concerns.  The Early Childhood Coordinator (ECC) – Pilot will be specialist allied health or early childhood educators with expertise and experience in early childhood development and disability. 

The Early Childhood Coordinator will be aware of and able to guide others in providing service in line with the ECIA best practice guidelines. This pilot will be conducted in the Brimbank Melton region and travel within this region is an expectation of this role.

This pilot will be delivered in natural, community settings including family homes, kindergartens, day care centres, etc.

It is not an expectation that sessions will be delivered from BSL Disability Service office locations. Salary will be in the range of $93,802.33 – $100,930.33 per annum (including superannuation), based on skills and experience.

To be considered for the role and be successful in it, we’re looking for an individual who has the following key skills and experiences:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (Bachelors or higher) in allied health, social work, early childhood teaching, etc.
  • Registration with AHPRA, AASW, VIT or any other relevant body.
  • Relevant qualifications and experience in the disability sector or Early Childhood Sector.
  • Highly developed administrative and professional writing skills.
  • Experience with highly accountable processes that are subject to external review.
  • Extensive knowledge and application of early childhood development, developmental delay, and the early intervention service sector.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), the Early Childhood approach and Early Childhood best practice principles.
  • Ability to identify the needs of children and their families and make judgments regarding eligibility for NDIS funding or community and mainstream supports.
  • Excellent communication skills to work honestly and in partnership with families regarding eligibility for and availability of community and mainstream supports.
  • Experience in customer facing environments that support or provide services to the community.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to liaise and build collaborative positive working relationships with children, families, and service providers.
  • A demonstrated ability to manage a complex case/client list efficiently and effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement continual service improvements.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to liaise and build collaborative positive working relationships with children, families, and service providers.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and effectively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution and change management.
  • Highly developed time management and organisational skills including the ability to multi-task, prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
