WE ARE

DG COMP’s Unit I5 is a dynamic unit of 21 people, in charge of developing and implementing DG
Competition’s (DG COMP) communication strategy. We provide a wide range of communication
services to the Directorate-General, the Executive Vice-president and her Cabinet.

This includes external communication actions (such as outreach events, workshops and conferences,
managing our public website, social media activities, press activities, production of audiovisual
material and publications) as well as internal communication (maintaining the intranet site,
organisation of internal events, internal news).

In addition to these communication actions, our unit is also in charge of coordinating the production
of briefings for the EVP, the President and other senior management members.

We also are responsible for DG COMP’s Knowledge Management, the DG’s library, and we assist
with research of information in the preparation of competition cases.

WE PROPOSE

We offer an interesting position, with a diverse range of tasks, focused on providing administrative
support to the unit, and assistance in the organisation of outreach events.

In terms of administrative support, the successful candidate will provide secretarial and logistical
assistance to the unit, aiding the Head of Unit, the Deputy Head of Unit, and the policy officers.
Responsibilities include handling staff matters such as recruitment processes, leaves, and time
sheets; managing procurement files; and a wide range of internal procedures, including the
organisation of meetings and missions.

Additionally, the successful candidate will be part of the outreach team, supporting the organisation
of small, medium, and large-scale events both online and in person. This role involves a variety of
tasks, such as planning, selecting and booking venues, choosing contractors, managing the budget
and relevant financial procedures, and overseeing registration processes. It also includes working
with different online conferencing tools such as Webex, Zoom, Teams, and Slido.

As this is a varied job which touches upon different areas and subjects, the successful candidate will
work in close cooperation with all members of the Unit, contribute to the weekly internal and
external communications meetings and liaise with colleagues across the DG.

The role requires a high degree of accuracy in the execution of tasks, discretion and reliability in
handling sensitive files. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational and time management
skills, a proactive approach to anticipating and resolving problems, and a commitment to ongoing
learning and professional development to evolve within the unit.

An excellent command of English, along with a keen interest in software and IT tools is essential for
this position. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools relevant to the unit’s operations is highly desirable.
Additionally, knowledge of financial administration, as well as prior experience in communication
and event organisation, will be considered an asset.
