WE PROPOSE
Unit of DG COMM is seeking to hire profile sought: Information and Communication Assistant
– Protocol
The main tasks for the position are:
- Support the President and the Members of the Commission by reinforcing the political and media profile of the European Commission in the Member States, including the preparation, organisation and follow up of visits of the members of the College. Representing the European Commission in the respective Member State towards national, regional and local authorities, media, stakeholders and citizens.
- Country-specific Economic and Political Information and Analysis: Representations provide the Commission with in-depth, accurate and timely information and analysis regarding relevant developments in the Member States and the views of the Government and, political parties, think tanks and civil society.
- Press and Media Communications: in cooperation with the Spokesperson’s Service, Representations communicate on behalf of the Commission.
- Outreach to Citizens: Representations provide outreach and communication to citizens and stakeholders/multipliers in the Member States, by managing information networks and by explaining the policy priorities of the Commission in a local context.
WE LOOK FOR
We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated and committed colleague with an excellent knowledge of French and English (both written and spoken) and familiar with the French context and sensitivities.
The job requires excellent communication, coordination and organisational skills as well as the capacity to work independently and in a team under tight deadlines. A high sense of responsibility
and strong organisational skills are essential assets.
Within the dynamic team of the Representation in Paris, this is a stimulating position as contract agent in Communication and Protocol matters attached to the Deputy Head of Representation and the political team. The main tasks will include:
- He/she will coordinate the organisation of visits of Members of the College and senior officials of the Commission in Paris and across France. The organisation of these visits involves interacting with cabinet members, national authorities and stakeholders.
- The jobholder will be responsible for the logistics and the set-up of the programme of the visits.
- The jobholder will also ensure the coordination within the different teams in the Representation to assemble all the aspects of the visits (ex: briefing, media, events, etc).
- The position can involve preparing elements of the briefing requested.
- The jobholder will also coordinate the visits of Members of the College during plenary sessions in Strasbourg.
- The jobholder will also be responsible for the protocol aspects of events organised by the Representation and of missions of the Head and Deputy Head of Representation’s missions in France.
- She/He will also handle the administrative tasks related to the position.
The candidate should display a strong ability to embrace teamwork through effective
communication, exchanges of ideas, and collective problem-solving as well as excellent
interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a broad range of stakeholders (internal and external).
The position requires a flexible and agile approach to tasks prone to change and atypical working hours.
