ECHA/TRN/2026/011 – Water, Alternative Methods and Prioritisation Unit (B3)
The Water, Alternative Methods and Prioritisation Unit supports the implementation of the Integrated Regulatory Strategy (IRS) by co-ordinating the identification and prioritisation of (groups of) substances requiring further EU regulatory action and identifying the appropriate regulatory measure if action is needed. It also manages the prioritisation and listing of substances on the Authorisation List, co-ordinates the implementation of Article 11 of the Drinking Water Directive (DWD) and facilitates Risk Management and Evaluation Platform (RiME+) meetings.

Assignment
In this traineeship you will have the unique opportunity to acquire expertise in our regulatory work, such as:
• Support the implementation of Article 11 of the Drinking Water Directive (the main task for the trainee)’
• Preparation of mock dossiers that will be used to test the application submission system that ECHA is building, and generating support materials for future DWD applicants;
• Support the streamlining of chemicals assessment and contribute to the work related to the One substance, one assessment and One Health initiatives. This includes identifying substances regulated under different regulatory frameworks, contributing to a better understanding of the impacts of ECHA’s work on other regulatory frameworks such as food contact materials and pharmaceuticals, and supporting collaboration with other agencies and authorities;
The work may include some other tasks related to the main assignment.

Profile
• Completed university studies at least to bachelor degree level in the fields of (chemical) engineering, environmental and health or regulatory sciences and materials science, or similar;
• Previous experience with the IUCLID software would be an asset; • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
• Aptitude for team work;
• Good English skills both written and spoken are required (as this is the working language of the Agency).
