About Aid Gate Organization “AGO”

Aid Gate Organization (AGO) is an independent, nonpartisan, national organization in Iraq whose history goes back to 2014 with the beginning of ISIL’s occupation in Iraq. At that time and throughout the mass conflicts occurring from 2014 onwards, ISIL groups took control of large swathes of the country, including Nineveh, Salah al-Din, Anbar, and parts of Diyala. This period witnessed an unprecedented wave of displacement for people who lived in these areas in addition to extreme human rights violations. With the Iraqi government, unable to provide much-needed, widespread assistance, many international organizations entered the country to facilitate a response. In doing so, local community members were actively recruited to assist in the movement and return of displaced people, while providing them with emergency life-saving assistance to meet their basic needs. Since 2014, AGO has been working untiringly to help Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), returnees, and vulnerable host communities for the implementation of whole-of-community resilience-building measures in Iraq. Today AGO is functional in Salah al-Din, Kirkuk, and the Nineveh governorates, with 50–150 employees, depending on the situation in the region. We are currently working on expanding our operations into the Anbar governorate as well as southern Iraq through proven programs to rebuild the lives of men, women, children, refugees IDPs, minorities, ethnic groups, and persons with disabilities.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Eco-friendly Businesses Trainer will be instrumental in educating project beneficiaries in Sinuni, Sinjar, Ninawa governorate on sustainable business practices.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develop a comprehensive training curriculum covering sustainable business models, eco-friendly product development, waste reduction strategies, green marketing techniques, and corporate social responsibility.
2. Facilitate interactive training sessions that incorporate case studies, group discussions, and practical exercises to reinforce key concepts and foster critical thinking.
3. Provide guidance on identifying sustainable business opportunities, assessing market demand, and integrating environmental and social considerations into business planning and operations.
4. Assess trainees’ progress through assignments, presentations, and project work, offering feedback and support to enhance learning outcomes.
5. Collaborate with project staff and local partners to identify relevant resources, guest speakers, and networking opportunities to enrich the training experience.
6. Monitor and evaluate the impact of the training program on beneficiaries’ capacity to establish and operate eco-friendly businesses, contributing to sustainable economic development.

1. Demonstrated expertise in sustainable business practices, environmental management, or corporate sustainability, with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
2. Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire learners from diverse backgrounds.
3. Practical experience in developing and implementing sustainable business strategies, including eco-friendly product design, supply chain management, and green procurement.
4. Experience in delivering training programs or capacity-building initiatives for entrepreneurs, business owners, or aspiring professionals.
5. Familiarity with local business contexts, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks in Sinuni, Sinjar, Ninawa governorate.
6. A commitment to promoting sustainable development goals and empowering communities through entrepreneurship and innovation.

Expected Outcomes: Upon completion of the training program, beneficiaries should be able to:

1. Understand the principles and benefits of eco-friendly business practices, including resource efficiency, waste reduction, and stakeholder engagement.
2. Identify opportunities to integrate environmental and social considerations into business planning, product development, and operations.
3. Develop sustainable business models and strategies that generate positive economic, environmental, and social impacts.
4. Implement green marketing techniques to communicate their sustainability initiatives and differentiate their products and services in the market.
5. Establish and manage eco-friendly businesses that contribute to environmental conservation, social equity, and economic prosperity in their communities.
