Winchester City Council is looking for an Ecologist & Biodiversity
Officer
 to join the Natural Environment and Recreation Team (NERT), within Winchester
City Council.

As part of a small team within NERT, your role will be to support the delivery of the
Authority’s functions and activities with respect to ecology and wildlife conservation, through
the provision of specialised ecological/biodiversity advice and support. You will be
responsible for implementing the Biodiversity Action Plan, completing/assessing/contracting
ecological surveys and reports, developing new projects to reconnect wildlife and people;
promoting the work of the team and developing new and innovative ways to generate more interest
in Winchester’s special habitats and species, working in partnership where appropriate.

An ability to work independently as well as part of a team is essential, as is good
organisational skills and an ability to manage your own workload and time. This role will see
you come into contact with members of the public, partners, contractors & suppliers,
planners and councillors, as well as other sections of the council, so excellent communication
skills are a must.
