Ecologist I

Corblu Ecology Group, LLC is seeking to hire a qualified B.S. or M.S. graduate with strong capabilities in aquatic and/or terrestrial ecology.  A position is available in Corblu’s Alabaster, Alabama office.  This position is a full-time, permanent, entry-level opportunity.

Typical job duties will include, but are not limited to, floral and faunal surveys, aquatic sampling for fish and benthic macroinvertebrates, geomorphic surveys, field delineations of streams and wetlands, field surveys for protected species (aquatic and terrestrial), water quality sampling, habitat mapping, Clean Water Act Section 404 permitting, report preparation, and technical writing.  Travel is expected and candidates should be accustomed to working outdoors under difficult field conditions.

Applicants should have a desire to work in private consulting and possess strong skills in the following areas:  1) verbal and written communications; 2) technical writing; 3) native fish identification and/or floral identification; 4) design and execution of field sampling protocols; 5) experience and familiarity with obtaining and managing data in a GIS database or similar platform; 6) proficiency with navigation and map interpretation; and 7) ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Experience in delineating wetlands and streams, Section 404 permitting, and/or compensatory mitigation projects is preferred.
