We are a small independent ecological consultancy based in Gloucestershire and Somerset. We
work across the UK, although most of our projects are within a couple of hours of
Gloucestershire or Somerset.
The Role
We are seeking an ecologist or senior ecologist to help us manage our increased workload. The
role will mainly involve working from home and visiting sites, with some requirement to travel
to Gloucestershire and Somerset to meet with the rest of the team. The successful applicant
will assist with all aspects of the business, including:
- Field work including preliminary roost assessments, bat surveys, and preliminary ecological
appraisals. - Biodiversity Net Gain assessments, including condition assessments.
- Designing and implementing mitigation.
- Project management of a range of ecology projects.
- Producing ecological reports.
- Quality checking ecology reports.
- Producing maps using QGIS.
About You
Essential
- Appropriate degree level qualification.
- Happy to work independently, often outdoors.
- Full driving licence and use of a car.
- Willing to travel and occasionally stay overnight, as required.
- Located within (or willing to relocate to) Gloucestershire, Somerset or the Bristol area.
- Consultancy experience.
Desirable
- CIEEM membership or working towards membership.
- Experience of completing BNG assessments and condition assessments.
- Experience of carrying out UKHab classification surveys and protected species surveys.
- Knowledge of wildlife legislation and planning policy.
- Excellent report writing skills.
- Competent botanical identification skills
- One or more protected species licences, particularly for bats.
- Experience of GIS, particularly QGIS.
- Experience of completing EPS Mitigation licenses for bats.
- Experience of producing Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Construction Environmental
Management Plans (CEMP) and Landscape Ecological Management Plans (LEMP).
Terms
- Full-time hours are 37.5 hours per week, part-time will be considered.
