About us

Noctua Ecology is a growing ecological consultancy based in north-west Bristol. Our goal is to
build a highly skilled team, provide quality ecological services, and have a positive
ecological and ethical impact. Our ultimate objective is to invest our profits in purchasing
land to create nature reserves.

We are currently expanding the business, which includes moving into a new office situated in
the beautiful Leigh Court Estate located on the edge of Leigh Woods, Bristol. We are looking
for another person to join the team who aligns with our values and is motivated by their
career.

Our projects are varied and include supporting conservation work, habitat banking projects,
small householder schemes, residential developments, and infrastructure projects. Ideally you
will be happy to take on Biodiversity Net Gain and/or bat related projects. Although an
interest or specialism in another field will not go amiss and we can tailor your workload to
suit your specialisms.

What we are looking for

Essential criteria:

  • Professional experience in ecological consultancy (minimum 2 years).
  • BSc and or MSc in a relevant subject.
  • Full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle for business.
  • Good understanding of the planning system, wildlife policy, and legislation.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, and willing to work outside of normal hours.
  • Within commuting distance to the office and ideally willing to attend the office at least 3
    days per week.
  • Good organisation, project management, and client liaison skills.

Desirable criteria:

  • Protected species survey licence(s).
  • Experience being the Named Ecologist on protected species mitigation licences.
  • Demonstrable competence using the Statutory Biodiversity Metric.
  • Member of CIEEM.
  • Competent using QGIS.
