Overview
Location: Telford, Shropshire.
Contract: Permanent, Fulltime (37.5hrs per week).
Salary Range: £25,000 – £28,000 D.O.E + 25 days annual leave.

Based in Telford, Shropshire, Red Kite provides landscape architecture, ecology, and arboricultural consultancy services throughout the UK for a diverse client base. Due to our continued and consistent business growth, we are now seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Ecologist to join our friendly and professional team.
Role Description
We wish to recruit an experienced Ecologist, ideally with a consultancy background in ecological assessments, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), and protected species surveying. We would like to recruit an individual with a minimum of three years of demonstrable experience with a competent knowledge of wildlife legislation, planning policy, ecological report writing, and industry standard survey methodologies. Your role will be to utilise your experience to work as part of the team on various ecological assessments, such as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and Preliminary Roost Assessments. There will be opportunities to work on a diverse portfolio of projects as well as the opportunity for career progression for the right candidate. Whilst it is envisaged that the role will be full-time we would be willing to consider applications on a part-time basis for the right candidate.
Qualifications & Experience
The candidate should have the following desirable attributes:
- Hold a degree level qualification (or higher) in an ecology-related subject.
- Three years of consultancy experience minimum.
- Obtained or working towards Associate or Full Membership of CIEEM.
- Obtained or worked towards a protected species license and/or FISC.
- Knowledge and experience of Biodiversity Net Gain and using the statutory metric.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
- Experience and knowledge of using a range of software, including QGIS.
- Willingness to work as part of a team across the company.
- Valid driving license and access to own car insured for business use (if required).
