The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the worlds leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, have been registered in Bangladesh since 2013. In 2017, in response to the Rohingya influx, DRC launched an integrated program of support to the government in site management, shelter/NFI and protection. In 2018, DRC started implementing aid projects in support of the host communities most affected by the influx of refugees. As a key part of this, DRC opened an area office in Coxs Bazar, and a main office in Dhaka.

POSITION PROFILE

This position will be responsible for implementing and monitoring the cash for work, community mobilization, and awareness activities implemented on sites. The assistant entails support to the Cash based /Nature Based Solutions (NbS) project interventions and overall implementation of DRCs Economic Recovery activities in refugee camps and host community settings on the Bangladesh/Myanmar border. The assistant will ensure the timely and effective delivery of DRCs Economic Recovery/NbS project Interventions mainly on facilitation and support to Cash Based (CFW) interventions selection, CFW works management, cash distribution and monitoring compliance with all relevant protocols under the overall supervision and guidance of Economic Recovery Manager.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in implementation of the Economic Recovery projects/ Nature Based Solutions project Implementation at field level with other team members.
  • Provide timely input and feedback and compile and submit regular project updates to the line manager.
  • Assist and facilitate to project team for projects CFW schemes selection, validation, and finalization with relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitoring the CFW based interventions and managing CFW scheme works with local stakeholders and prepare the records/documentation for CFW payment submissions to finance at regular basis.
  • Monitor the IPs activities at field level with proper guidance and facilitation where applicable.
  • Assist and support to finance team during CFW cash payment distribution at field level.
  • Partake different training/workshop and awareness sessions relevant to project at field level.
  • Develop different livelihoods project related technical specifications on the product/inputs for procurement in compliances with sector and government line agencies.
  • Support in resolving any emerging problems and issues in the field.
  • Make field arrangements for planned visits/ high level visitor/donor official to project locations.
  • Set up clear beneficiary follow -up mechanisms and ensures appropriate follow-ups are made to support beneficiaries.
  • Coordinate activities with relevant stakeholders-UP Chairman/CICs /civil societies/actors at field level with establishing synergic linkages.
  • Ensure that the DRC Code of Conduct and PSEA reporting mechanism is understood, acknowledged in writing, and adhered to by stakeholders/Partners.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the line manager.

Safety

  • Comply with all global and location-specific safety rules, policies, and procedures. Report safety incidents, near-misses and other relevant information to the safety team as shall be briefed during onboarding. Failure to adhere to these will be considered a disciplinary offence while it may also leave you, your colleagues and DRC Bangladesh, at risk.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • Minimum experience of 2 years in community/field mobilization/cash for work/disaster mitigation/or social infrastructure or maintenance.
  • Strong experience in community engagement including participatory approach of data gathering (PRA, RRA) and facilitating participatory tools for identifying targeted is an advantage.
  • Sound knowledge on Training of Trainers (ToT), training facilitation and supervisions on community led infrastructure interventions, waste management concept and interventions, Cash for Work (CFW) and Income Generating Activities (IGA).
  • Experience of working with implementing partners on livelihoods and skill development project, Eco based Adaptation and green livelihoods.
  • Experience designing and maintaining records of experiments accurately and systematically.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and coordination with other NGOs and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Excel with demonstrated ability to design and maintain appropriate tracking tools.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree preferably in Business Administration/ Social Sciences.

LANGUAGES

  • Excellent command in English language
  • Bengali
  • Ability to understand and speak local Rohingya/Chittagong languages.
