You’ll engage in hands-on fieldwork, utilizing manual tools and herbicides to effectively manage invasive aquatic and terrestrial plants that threaten our ecosystems.

The Ecosystem Restoration Technician will assist in the stewardship, enhancement, and restoration of vital natural areas, wetlands, and aquatic stormwater systems. You’ll enjoy the thrill of working outdoors in diverse weather conditions, participating in 8 to 10-hour field workdays that may require you to handle a 40-pound herbicide backpack sprayer or brush cutter for extended periods.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in landscape maintenance and equipment operation preferred
  • Willingness to learn herbicide application techniques.
  • Obtain State of Florida FDACS Licensing in your first 90 days
  • Ability to adhere to safety policies and procedures
  • Walking potentially several miles per day in natural, undeveloped environments.
  • Working around and in the water with the ability to swim.
  • Awareness of naturally occurring environmental factors, including insects, alligators, and snakes
  • Willingness and experience working in hot and humid weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license preferred
