Earth Action Index — Editorial Fellowship (Summer 2025)

About the Fellowship

We have all the solutions we need to address our crisis of climate and ecology. Now, we need everyone to find their role in implementation.

Are you interested in making an impact in the climate movement? Passionate about the natural world? Join an ambitious effort to build a new kind of media platform focused on amplifying solutions and catalyzing action.

The Editorial Fellowship is a remote, part-time opportunity for college students to help shape the future of climate storytelling. Over 7 weeks (July 14–August 29), Fellows will participate in the launch of the Earth Action Index: a new editorial platform designed to connect the dots of the climate movement and bridge storytelling with action.

Our team curates stories, tools, and ideas from around the world and aggregates them into an interactive digital platform. Fellows will contribute to our growing index—learning about climate solutions, researching actions, and helping to curate content that makes climate action more accessible.

What You’ll Do:

  • Learn and focus on one general subject (i.e. Energy, Food & Agriculture, Nature Connection, Policy & Advocacy, or Design & Build) based on your interests
  • Research resources from across the internet, finding the best stories about solutions and the most impactful individual actions
  • Practice writing short blurbs for each link you discover, surfacing key insights and ideas
  • Collaborate with other Fellows via Slack, share resources, and learn from a community of climate researchers/activists
  • Receive guidance and feedback from experienced editorial contributors and team leads
  • Attend one weekly All-Hands meeting and one weekly team meeting

What You’ll Gain:

  • Education and research experience in a variety of climate and environmental topics
  • Learning about climate solutions and feedback to writing
  • Experience working with an early-stage editorial platform
  • Portfolio-worthy work in curation, content strategy, and climate communication
  • Bylines on the digital platform for entries that are published
  • A community of like-minded peers passionate about nature & climate impact
  • Academic and professional networking with students from other universities

Fellowship Details:

  • Dates: July 14 – August 29, 2025
  • Time commitment: ~5-7 hours per week (fully remote)
  • Weekly meetings: One team meeting (45 mins) + one All-Hands meeting (1 hour)
  • Communication: Slack-based, async-friendly

Who Should Apply

We’re seeking curious, driven, climate-conscious college students who are eager to contribute meaningfully and creatively to a startup project. While the Editorial Fellowship is unpaid, this is a unique opportunity to expand your education and skillset in the climate space, join a vibrant, like-minded community, and develop your skills in writing and research for an impact-driven initiative. Previous editorial experience (i.e. school paper or magazine) is a plus, but not required.

About Earth Action Index

Earth Action Index is an editorial platform designed to bridge storytelling with action. We exist to help individuals learn about solutions and find pathways to participate in the climate movement. We believe that solving the climate crisis is not only a challenge of policy, innovation, and infrastructure—it’s also a cultural revolution to reimagine our relationship with the natural world. The company is founded by recent graduates from Brown University with backgrounds in storytelling, new media, and climate impact. Our team is preparing to launch the platform and tools to the public in Fall 2025.
