The Communications Group works with all parts of our organisation and acts as a critical resource and centre of expertise.

We are currently seeking an Editorial Manager to join the Group on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is a brilliant opportunity for a high-calibre editorial or communication production manager with experience in managing high-profile projects to join our organisation.

The Role

As an Editorial Manager, you will play a key role in delivering content for research communications.

Overseeing the production of content for targeted audiences, you will make sure it adheres to our editorial, production and brand guidelines and is completed to deadline.

You will manage delivery of multiple types of content, agreeing schedules, updating the project management platform and triaging content to assess what is needed, before passing on to a freelancer or colleague in the communications team for editing or production. You will work closely with project managers to develop their editorial and production skills and with other members of the communications team.

Additionally, you will contribute to:

– Advising on brand issues to ensure brand consistency
– Ensuring that editorial systems and capacity meet organisational needs
– Making sure the IIED style guide is fit for purpose
– Helping to build editorial and production management skills internally

About You

To be considered as an Editorial Manager, you will need:

– Experience in an editorial or production manager role, working with researchers and other communications roles
– Experience of project managing high profile, time sensitive initiatives
– Experience of managing freelance suppliers
– Experience of managing multiple projects, timeframes, budgets and delivery dates
– An understanding of editorial and production processes for digital and print content
– A good understanding of environment and sustainable development issues
– Strong knowledge and experience of business-relevant software, including scheduling software

International applicants must have the right to work in the country in which you wish to reside, with a time difference of no more than plus or minus two hours from UK (GMT/BST).

The salary range advertised in GBP is applicable in the UK only. The salary offer in another country would depend on the local terms and conditions. We only use the UK salary structure to determine starting salaries, but it will not apply to salaries outside the UK thereafter.

IIED is a hybrid working organisation and you are likely to be working from home most of the time. As such, you will need a suitable place to work and a reliable, fast internet connection.
