Job Description:

The Education Coordinator will oversee and manage all education-related activities for Iraqi children returnees in Mosul. This role involves leading the Education team, ensuring effective delivery of education services, and coordinating with stakeholders, the Department of Education (DoE), and target schools. The coordinator will also support the management team in capacity building, logistical support, and developing a curriculum for returnee students. The role requires working closely with the M&E Officer, Awareness Officer, PSS, and MHPSS staff to ensure comprehensive support for the children.

key Responsibilities:

   Management of Education Activities:

  • Oversee and manage all education-related activities for Iraqi returnee children.
  • Lead and supervise the Education team, ensuring effective execution of educational programs.
  • Coordinate with the Department of Education (DoE) and target schools to ensure the smooth integration of returnee children into the education system.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum tailored to the needs of returnee students, in collaboration with educational stakeholders.
  • Supervise and provide leadership to the Education Team, including setting objectives, managing performance, and providing training.

  Coordination and Reporting:

  • Report regularly to the Program Manager on the progress and outcomes of educational activities.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including DoE and school managers, to address educational needs and challenges.
  • Ensure legal documentation and registration processes for returnee children are completed efficiently.
  • Organize workshops and meetings to address and mitigate any social issues affecting children’s education.

 

Curriculum Development and Documentation:

  • Collaborate with the DoE and school managers to develop and implement a curriculum tailored to the needs of returnee children.
  • Assist with the legal documentation required for the registration of children in schools.

  Capacity Building and Support:

  • Support the management team in capacity building for field staff and the education team.
  • Work with logistics to improve school support services and ensure all necessary resources are available.
  • Collaborate with PSS and MHPSS staff to provide comprehensive support, referring cases as needed to the PSS center.
  • Manage all activities related to education, ensuring alignment with IID’s goals and objectives.

  logistics and Resource Management:

  • Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure the provision of necessary educational resources and support.
  • Manage and oversee all school-related activities and logistics.

 PSS and MHPSS Coordination:

  • Collaborate with PSS and MHPSS staff to ensure that children’s psychological and social needs are addressed and any cases requiring support are referred to the appropriate centers.

 Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare and submit regular reports on educational activities to the Program Manager and M&E department.
  • Document and track all education-related activities and outcomes.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  1. Educational Background:
    • Bachelor’s degree in education, Social Sciences, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
  2. Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in educational program management, preferably in an NGO setting.
    • Demonstrated experience in working with children, especially in a post-conflict or returnee context.
    • Experience in capacity building and managing education teams.
  3. Skills and Competencies:
    • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
    • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
    • Proficiency in Arabic and English.
    • Ability to work effectively with various stakeholders, including government entities and educational institutions.
    • Knowledge of educational curriculum development and implementation.
    • Experience with logistical support in educational settings.
