Background:

Sahara Economic Development Organization (SEDO) is Iraqi National NGO, it was established in November 2007 as an independent NGO with its main office in Tikrit city. It focuses on developing the economic sector by providing business management training courses and counseling services to entrepreneurs and potential investors to enable them to efficiently contribute to the local economy. SEDO is considered among the most effective and qualified organizations in Iraq. It has conducted economic studies on the business environment in Iraq, identifying business opportunities and market niches for potential investors in Iraq. SEDO started humanitarian intervention in Iraq to respond to the urgent need for our beneficiaries, its work in WASH, Livelihood, protection, Food security, and Education sectors.

 

 

ROLE PURPOSE:

Under the supervision of the Field Manager and doted reporting line to the Education Manager and Education Technical Specialist, The Education Coordinator is responsible on timely planning, implementing and evaluating SC’s IDPs and Response Education activities . He/ She will work closely with the operations team as well as with partners, government and beneficiaries to ensure coordination and appropriate community involvement in our programmes.
The Education Coordinator will ensure that project activities are consistent with SEDO’s programming principles and approaches, draw on relevant best practices and lessons learned, enable children to attain their rights and are compliant with donor regulations.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
    
•    Monthly planning & review of project at field level. Maintain meeting notes as evidence
•    Support the project manager with updating Mandatory tools on monthly basis including  MEAL plan, Project Charter, HR Plan.
•    Develop & submit monthly KPI plan for project in first week of every month in coordination with project manager
•    Tracking of pipeline expenses on monthly basis along . Make sure Payments to be submitted during the month.
•    Regular follow up of procurement, recruitment & payments with supply chain, HR & Finance department.
•    Ensure quality bench mark assessment with support of MEAL department.
•    Draft quarterly report and submit to the project manager.
•    Ensure data base is updated and matching figures with quarterly reports
•    Develop & implement project closeout plan including asset disposition in coordination with project manager and awards team.
•    Ensure learning events are organized & documented in coordination with MEAL.
•    Ensure the project is implemented in ways responsive to communities, partners and children in line with SEDO’s principles, values and strategic plan and compliant with SEDO’s procedures.
•    Ensure proper and effective use of program resources, ensuring that all resources/assets in project are managed in line with SEDO and Donor policy.
•    Monitor program progress against both programmatic and budgetary targets.
•    Responsible for liaising with Field Management and Security on the movement planning of team and any necessary security assessments or reassessments of operational areas.
•    Close coordination with other program and advocacy colleagues, including WASH, Child Protection, MHPSS on cross cutting needs and issues to ensure an integrated approach
•    Insure the sustainability plans for project interventions are adapted for the context and are in alignment with CO strategy and SEDO standards.
•    Conduct risk assessment for activities to ensure safety and protection of children and adult accessing SEDO services.
•    Coordinate with the Education Manager and Education Technical Specialist on staff capacity development needs.
•    Represent SEDO in the external meetings such as sub national cluster meeting, camp management meetings and DoE/ local authority meetings.
•    Support the team with goals and objectives and evaluate on quarterly basis.
•    Support MEAL to collect appropriate, timely and accurate data against agreed indicators to enable both internal and external reporting
•    Work with MEAL team to identify and incorporate project suitable accountability mechanisms.

EXPERINCE & QUALIFICATIONS  

•    Advanced degree in a relevant subject, or a BA with equivalent field experience

•    Understanding of education programming, particularly in basic education and early childhood.  

•    At least 3 years of project management experience in emergency, fragile state or development programmes.

•    Understanding of remote managing programmes in complex settings

•    Proven capacity to supervise, and coach staff in programme management

•    Experience of, and commitment to, working through systems of community participation and accountability

•    Ability to analyse information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically

•    Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports

•    A team player who is able to work collaboratively and with people of diverse backgrounds

•    Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy

•    A high level of written and spoken English and Arabic and kurdish.

•    Commitment to the aims and principles of SEDO.
