Job Description:

The Education Field Assistant will support the Education team in managing and overseeing educational activities for Iraqi returnee children in Mosul. This role involves working closely with the Education Coordinator, M&E Officer, Awareness Officer, and other relevant staff to facilitate the delivery of educational support services. The Education Field Assistant will assist in coordinating with stakeholders, ensuring effective implementation of education programs, and addressing the needs of returnee children. The position requires significant travel within Mosul, covering over 75% of the time, to visit target schools and support locations.

key Responsibilities:

Support to Education Team:

  • Assist the Education team in the implementation and management of education programs and activities.
  • Support capacity-building initiatives for the Department of Education (DoE) team and other education stakeholders.

Education Activities:

  • Help manage educational activities, including coordinating with target schools and supporting returnee children with their registration and legal documentation.
  • Contribute to the development and facilitation of educational workshops and meetings to address the needs of returnee children.

Stakeholder Coordination:

  • Collaborate with the Department of Education, school managers, and other stakeholders to support the development and adaptation of curricula for returnee students.
  • Work with logistics teams to support the delivery of school-related materials and resources.

PSS and MHPSS Coordination:

  • Coordinate with PSS and MHPSS staff to ensure that the social and emotional needs of students are addressed and refer cases to appropriate support services as needed.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
  • Assist in preparing and submitting regular reports on educational activities and outcomes to the Education management team.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to educational activities and ensure proper record-keeping.

Travel and Field Visits:

  • Conduct field visits to target schools and returnee locations to provide support and assess educational needs.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  1. Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Social Sciences, or a related field. A master’s degree is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 2- 3 years of experience in education management or support, preferably in a humanitarian or development context.
  • Experience in supporting educational activities and working with diverse stakeholders.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Strong understanding of educational systems, curricula development, and child protection issues.
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant educational software.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Flexibility and willingness to travel frequently within Mosul and surrounding areas.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to improving educational outcomes for returnee children.

    This position requires a dedicated individual who can support the Education team in navigating educational and social challenges while ensuring the effective delivery of support services to Iraqi returnee children.
