Under the overall guidance and direction of the Chief, Education, the Education Manager supports the Chief in managing the section, playing a key role in bringing innovation to the development and preparation of education programmes. The Education Manager provides authoritative technical guidance and operational support throughout all stages of programming to facilitate the management and delivery of results on strengthening national education systems to improve learning outcomes and to promote universal access to quality, equitable and inclusive education, especially for children who are marginalized, disadvantaged and excluded in society.
The Education Manager contributes to the achievement of concrete and sustainable results according to plans, allocation, results based-management approaches and methodology (RBM), as well as UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, standards of performance and accountability framework. The postholder will provide technical guidance to the Chief in the development and implementation of the vision of the JCO Education program as set out in the Country Development Program and in collaboration with all Sections contributing to education results.
The Education Manager provides technical guidance to strengthen national education systems to enable children to learn whether through formal, non-formal or informal service provision. He/she will also support the identification and strengthening of synergies across the Section and Office. In particular, the post holder will support UNICEF Jordan’s efforts to support children’s access and retention, as well as to recover and accelerate children’s learning. A major component of the JCO program focus on improving teaching and learning, and the post holder will bring professional and technical expertise in this area.
