Job Purpose:

The Education Officer is responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting education project activities in line with project objectives and donor requirements. The role ensures quality delivery of education services, including formal and non-formal learning, capacity building for teachers, and community engagement to promote access to education for all children, especially the most vulnerable.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Implementation

  • Lead the implementation of education activities in assigned areas according to the project plan and timeline.

  • Coordinate and supervise learning sessions, teacher training, literacy classes, and other education interventions.

  • Ensure that education activities are inclusive and aligned with national standards and humanitarian principles.

  • Support the establishment and management of safe, gender-sensitive, and child-friendly learning environments.

  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor the quality of teaching and learning processes.

2. Coordination and Communication

  • Work closely with community mobilizers, local authorities, and school management to enhance project impact.

  • Liaise with the Directorate of Education (DoE) and other relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment with government education priorities.

  • Coordinate with other project staff (MEAL, Protection, etc.) to ensure integrated programming.

 

3. Community Engagement

  • Promote community participation in education activities and awareness on the importance of education.

  • Identify and address barriers preventing children, especially girls and vulnerable groups, from attending school.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in education project implementation, preferably with NGOs or UN agencies.

  • Knowledge of the Iraqi education system and local context.

  • Experience in community mobilization, teacher training, and non-formal education.

  • Strong communication, coordination, and report writing skills.

  • Proficiency in Arabic and English (written and spoken).
