Education officer will be responsible of implementing the DAFI Program funded by UNHCR in partnership with SSDF.
Tasks
- General monitoring of the implementation of the project, providing guidance to the team in the planning and schedule of the education activities;
- Conduct field visits to supervise the activities according to planned schedule as well as ad hoc visits according to needs;
- Monitor results’ achievements and targets reached against indicators;
- Ensure the activities are fully documented through attendance sheets of participants, pictures, videos and activities ad hoc reports;
- Ensure systematic and timely data collection and guarantee the data entry on regular basis as per the standard monitoring formats and in coordination with SSDF Meal department;
- Provide monthly report to the Education Manager/ Education Project Manager providing updates on the activities of the overall project and highlighting challenges and solutions;
- Ensuring quality implementation and achievements of results related to Education activities through observation, application of standard education tools and FGDs with beneficiaries;
- Provide updates about topics affecting beneficiaries;
- Supervise the teachers and learners improvements and daily challenges to assess the impact and quality of the education services provided;
- Propose new/ tailor/ adapt activities according to identified needs and suggest solutions for problems encountered during the implementation;
- Support the Education Manager/ Education Project Manager and Education Coordinator in the design of educational training contents and supervise training correct implementation and results;
- Coordinate timely implementation of all aspects of the project related to the education activities in collaboration with the Education Manager/ PM;
- Supervise and manage the education team staff (education monitors) and volunteers (education outreach workers and education facilitators);
- Assist in the management of the resources of the project;
- Assist in programs related tasks such as raising PRs, developing lists of education material, forms and templates, translations of documents, activities and educational material;
- Support the Education Manager/ Education Project Manager and Education Coordinator in strengthening the local network, authorities and other NGOs/Agencies.
- Establish and maintain positive working relations with authorities and relevant stakeholders in the community to ensure cooperation and success of project implementation;
- Establish and maintain positive working relations with DoE and MoE ensuring constant information sharing, reporting and coordination;
- Establish and maintain positive working relations with school supervisors, school’s Principals and teachers ensuring the link between non-formal and formal education;
- Contribute to the identification of new opportunities for education projects and to improve the education strategy of SSDF in the Country;
- Take part/ conduct assessments in the same and/or different areas from the project’s implementation site when required;
- Participate in trainings and workshops on education related topics and other capacity building activities according to the project needs and requests from the Education Manager/ Education Project Manager and the Education Coordinator;
- Represent SSF in meeting and working group as required by the Education Manager/ Education Project Manager;
- Ensure adherence to SSDF and donor’s administrative rules and regulations;
- Ensure adherence to SSDF administrative rules and regulations;
- Perform any other task not here listed and necessary for the implementation of the project activities or the mission program as requested by the Project Manager.
Skills/Competences:
Essential
- Previous experience in similar position with INGOs (2 years);
- University degree in Humanities and/or similar;
- Strong knowledge of the Education system in Iraq;
- Strong understanding of the Iraq crisis impact on the population and especially on children;
- Adherence to humanitarian principles and code of conduct, in line with SSDF’s principles, values and regulations;
- Fluency in Arabic and English;
- Good IT knowledge and skills;
- Ability and willingness to travel across the assigned project areas (Balad) at short notice and spend extended periods with communities;
- Previous experience in supervising educational activities;
- Knowledge of Child Safeguarding policy and PSEA;
Desirable
- Previous experience in developing educational material for training;
- Previous experience in relating with DoE and MoE;
- Ability to work independently and under pressure;
- Strong diplomatic, interpersonal, listening and communication skills.
