ABOUT US
The Rev. Bill Crews Foundation is one of Sydney’s largest frontline charities and has been operating for 38 years. Our mission is to provide assistance to address the cause and effect of homelessness and poverty faced by marginalised individuals. We succeed in achieving this through a combination of caring services like food provision, social welfare and education support.
In 2024, BCF introduced a holistic literacy program in our schools across NT and NSW, called ‘All About Reading‘. A research-based, multisensory, mastery program based on the Orton-Gillingham approach that covers phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension. It has been proven to be effective instruction for all struggling readers including children diagnosed with dyslexia.
The Rev. Bill Crews Literacy program is designed to assist children, often from disadvantaged or traumatic backgrounds, with low literacy, to achieve the same educational outcomes as their peers by giving them the necessary reading skills to engage effectively in classroom activities and become lifelong learners
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Education Program Coordinator is responsible for the administration and implementation of the ‘All About Reading’ Program. This includes liaising with schools, recruiting, training, and supporting instructors and education support workers, and managing the resources associated with the program.
Salary is negotiable dependant on experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Implementation and expansion of BCF education programs, including the ‘All about Reading’ program in NSW.
- Support the implementation, and evaluation of continuous quality improvement initiatives for education programs, incorporating data and insights.
- Build effective relationships with schools, Department of Education & community agencies as required.
- Actively explore capacity for funding opportunities through grants and government tenders to sustain and expand current program delivery.
- Develop funding applications and/or partnerships with organisations, that will support the sustainability of education initiatives.
- Implementation of the National Student Wellbeing Program Scheme contract in NSW.
- Oversee supervision and management of all education staff, including staff allocations and regular consultation on teaching/learning delivery & management of testing and allocation of students to suitable groups.
- Coordinate the collection of assessment data for baseline measurement and outcomes
- Preparation of written content; interim, final, board, and annual report content, MOUs and other requests for content as required by BCF.
- Oversee training for instructors and support workers/volunteers
- Attend/facilitate literacy sessions at schools if required
- Monitor expenditure and on-going expenses in collaboration with Head of Programs.
- Organise bi-annual graduation days
- Develop strategic and operational plans to expand the Transition 2 Work programs.
- Develop and deliver a performance assessment/improvement process by reviewing individual, team and educational service KPIs in consultation with the Senior Management Team
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Experience working with children with diverse cultural backgrounds
- Experience with drafting proposals or grant submission (highly desirable)
- Working knowledge of the My Schools Website
