What we are looking for

We are looking for strong project management/implementation and technical background in Education sector.

Contextual understanding and knowledge of the Education sector as well as experience working with various stakeholders in Education in Jordan .

Strong interpersonal and analytical skills as well as budgeting and integrated programming knowledge and experience.

What you will do

The purpose of the Education Project Manager position is to oversee the implementation of the Education project portfolio implemented across host communities in Jordan.

The overall objective of the NRC Education programme in Jordan is to support children and adolescents to progress through formal education, and refugees’ right to education is upheld. The programme operates in Irbid, Mafraq and Amman.

In this position you will;

  • Contribute to the development of Country, Area, and Core Competency (CC) strategies, initiate, and participate in the development of relevant CC projects.
  • Coordinate and manage Education-Host project implementation (activities, budget, and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies, donor requirements and NRC policies, guidance, and procedures.
  • Implement technical direction and ensure high technical quality of projects. Ensure programme quality and implementation of NRC’s Safe and Inclusive Schools Programme, guaranteeing gender and protection mainstreaming and safe and inclusive programming criteria.
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Area Manager and the Education Specialist.
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and assess new and better ways to assist while promoting the rights of Refugees in line with the advocacy strategy.
  • Develop and manage project budget (in cooperation with Coordinators) and coordinate across CCs.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to the Education team. Line manage and ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills.
  • Support the development of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems, ensure M&E compliance and actively coordinate to ensure conducting monitoring exercises and accurate data collection and reporting.
  • Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders.
  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards & principles within NRC and amongst beneficiaries served by NRC.

What you will bring

  • Minimum 3 years’ work experience from a senior level project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context.
  • Specific experience and expertise in:
  • Technical Education.
  • Project management.
  • Contextual understanding and knowledge of the Education sector as well as experience working with various stakeholders in Education in Jordan.
  • Familiarity with Education related minimum standards.
  • team leadership – experience building team capacities.
  • working with government, local authorities, humanitarian actors, host community and displaced populations (Internally Displaced People, Returnees and Refugees).
  • tools and resources development – applying appropriate problem analysis tools, mechanisms, and processes at all stages of the project management cycle.
  • report writing skills – including analysis.
  • Effective communication to ensure good relations and smooth relations with stakeholders.
  • working in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Understanding of and commitment to:
  • working collaboratively with technical and operational colleagues within a matrix structure, including capacity strengthening.
  • integrated programming and/or coordinating multiple sectors/CCs.
  • University degree – In Education or any other relevant field.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is essential.

What we offer

  • Duty station: Irbid Jordan
  • Contract: 12 months, Fixed term, renewable based on performance, funds, and need for the position.
  • Travel: 20%
  • Salary/benefits: Grade 8 on NRC’s Jordan’s national salary scale.
