Educator and Volunteer Coordinator

Position Overview

The Educator and Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for delivering personable, high quality, engaging and inspiring educational programs to the public and ensuring that the presented programs are effective and directly support the mission of the Wolf Conservation Center. This role is also responsible for coordinating an extensive volunteer program with over 75 active volunteers. Volunteerism is an essential element of the WCC’s ability to serve the public.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Education (50%)
  • Lead in the delivery of WCC education programs including onsite programs, offsite programs, and virtual programs.  On-site programs occur on weekends, weekdays and evenings, including some overnights, so a flexible schedule is required.
  • Stay up to date on the latest science, conservation and policy status and behavioral studies on wolves and wolf conservation in the United States.
  • Provide excellent customer service in role as educator and host to program participants.
  • Participate in the creation of educational content in support of new program offerings, regular constituent email updates, social media posts, educational campaigns, and other initiatives as requested.
  • Manage, develop, and coordinate the three branches of volunteers and the education volunteer program.
  • Work with the Director of Education and Deputy Director to develop retention strategies as necessary.
  • Respond to educational inquires and general questions via phone/ email as needed
  • Supports the administration of educational programs as necessary.
  • Professionally represent the WCC, providing excellent customer service to internal and external constituents.
  • Other duties as assigned.
• Volunteer Coordination (50%)
  • Manage, develop, and coordinate the three branches of volunteerism: education volunteers, animal care volunteers and property management volunteers.
  • Work with the Director of Education, Director of Operations, Curator, and CEO to develop retention strategies, including providing opportunities for community building among volunteers.
  • Oversee volunteer recruitment and training.
  • Oversee high school and college internships, as needed.

• Education/ Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university in wildlife conservation, education or similar subject; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary for this role is $58-66K per year. Salary ranges at WCC are standardized based on role level and function.
