EHN seeks a motivated, organised and proactive Project Officer who will support EHN’s work in multiple EU-funded projects. The Project Officer will primarily facilitate meaningful and structured patient and public involvement in EU-funded projects to enable patients to be active partners in cardiovascular research and innovation. This is a full-time position based in Brussels, and our working language is English.
About the European Heart Network (EHN)
EHN is a Brussels-based alliance of 29 foundations and associations dedicated to preventing cardiovascular diseases (CVD), representing patient interests and funding research throughout Europe.
EHN’s mission is to play a leading role, on behalf of patients and people in Europe, in promoting cardiovascular health and the prevention and reduction of cardiovascular disease, in particular heart disease and stroke, to ensure CVD is no longer a major cause of premature death and disability throughout Europe. This will be achieved through evidence-based advocacy, research promotion networking, capacity-building, and representing patients’ and the wider public’s interest.
Role Responsibilities
- Coordinating EHN’s activities across four EU projects with contributions to the development of novel cardiovascular innovations and policy work;
- Organise, host and/or support the delivery of online and in-person project meetings, workshops, webinars, etc.;
- Engage with and maintain excellent relationships with project partners, patients and other key stakeholders;
- Support project partners in preparing and reviewing project deliverables (i.e. technical reports);
- Monitor project budgets, timelines, deliverables, milestones and key project activities to ensure seamless and timely implementation and delivery of project activities;
- Closely monitor project budgets, timelines, and key project activities;
- Develop and manage internal and external communication activities for ongoing EU projects;
- Contribute to writing and reviewing new project proposals within EU-funded programmes;
- Participate in conferences and project meetings, which may require occasional international travel;
- Support the EHN Team, when needed, in other relevant work across different policy portfolios.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a suitable candidate for the following profile:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, (e.g. public health, health management, health policy, health economics, EU politics, social sciences etc.);
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience in project management (internship included);
- Good knowledge of health research and European health policy;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills (can quickly establish and maintain good relationships with stakeholders);
- Ability to prioritise and multitask with good organisational and time-management skills;
- Ability to distil complex ideas quickly in order to articulate these to relevant internal and external stakeholders;
- Willing to get involved in all aspects of project coordination, research and policy implementation, and networking with stakeholders in the sector;
- Can work autonomously and independently in completing tasks;
- Excellent Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
- Reliable, honest and tactful and can practice discretion to maintain confidentiality;
- Ability to work as part of a small dynamic team;
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Desirable:
- Work experience in a public health NGO or the health sector;
- Familiarity with managing EU projects;
- Knowledge OF cardiovascular health and related policy issues;
- Experience with patients-centred research (i.e. focus groups, participatory research, organising patient workshops etc.);
- Familiarity with research on digital health and artificial intelligence in healthcare;
- Work experience in an international environment;
- Knowledge of additional languages.
