In our Department of Laser Medical Technology and Biophotonics, we collaboratively develop laser surgical procedures and systems with leading clinicians and medical technology companies. For our projects in laser surgery, we are seeking a committed individual with the ability to work interdisciplinary and a passion for project responsibility. Integrated into our team of physicists, engineers, and clinicians, you will develop automated mechatronic systems for minimally invasive applications in neurosurgery, maxillofacial or spinal surgery.

What you will do

• Conceptualization and implementation of FPGA-based real-time controls.
• Construction of laser surgical prototypes for clinical environments.
• Development and practical testing of algorithms for fast data processing.
• Commissioning of laser surgical systems and preclinical system tests.
• Planning, responsibility, and implementation of research projects.

What you bring to the table

• A completed master’s degree (TH / TU / Uni) in electrical engineering, technical computer science, or related fields.
• In-depth knowledge of programming FPGA-based real-time systems and rapid control prototyping.
• Ideally, programming experience in Python, MATLAB, C, VHDL, and Simulink.
• Responsible and independent work ethic, as well as commitment and open, team-oriented communication.
• Excellent German and English language skills.
