Position description

Mixed position: 50% field missions, 50% cross-functional missions at headquarters

The Emergency Health Coordinator plays a central role in managing the French Red Cross’s international health interventions.

Based both at headquarters and in the field, he is responsible for planning, coordinating and monitoring emergency health responses, ensuring a rapid, effective and tailored response to humanitarian crises.

In the field, he supervises multidisciplinary teams and collaborates with clinical and public health experts and international partners to assess needs, coordinate health actions and implement appropriate solutions.

The health coordinator also ensures the capacity building of local teams and the continuous improvement of practices, while actively participating in the transition towards the recovery of local health systems after crises.

Its contribution helps to guarantee the quality and sustainability of health actions carried out on the ground.

. Coordinate emergency health interventions in the field (50% of the time) The health coordinator is deployed on missions of 1 to 3 months integrated into the response system coordinated by the IFRC. His main role is to lead the emergency operations of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement in a given country alongside the National Society of the country on the health component. He is notably in charge of:

• Coordinate health needs assessments in collaboration with local authorities, humanitarian agencies and Red Cross Red Crescent Movement partners

• Play the role of technical advisor regarding health needs and their implementation within the framework of the emergency response and ensure links with all internal and external actors involved in this issue

• Promote the role of the Red Cross and Red Crescent in health responses and ensure that emergency health programming takes into account and aligns with the needs, capacities, strengths and limitations of the host National Society, while responding to the needs of the population

• Ensure the quality of services through the application of best practices and international standards Adopt a community approach by integrating local perceptions and needs into the planning of health interventions

• Adopt a capacity building approach, providing training, technical support, mentoring and dissemination in emergency response and recovery activities 2. Ensure technical representation of the CRF

• Represent the CRF at meetings with technical and institutional partners (Ministries of Health, international organizations).

• Produce articles and analyses on the projects and interventions carried out

• Establish an internal and external “reference” in your technical field, participate in reflection and consultation meetings with other technical partners (public, institutional, associative, etc.)

• Contribute to the enrichment and animation of a network of specialists and partners in its specific field

3. Contribute to development and technical capitalization

• Ensure the updating of technical reference documents (procedures, guidelines) and the dissemination of norms and standards. Conduct training and strengthen the capacities of technical teams, particularly in the field, in terms of health crisis management.

• Coordinate, in its technical field, the process of capitalizing on knowledge, methods and tools Facilitate inter-country exchanges, the sharing of knowledge and experiences, contribute to the harmonization of practices

• Participate in meetings, exchange platforms with other humanitarian actors, identify best practices in your technical field

• Practical information related to the position position to be filled immediately Numerous trips to the field (50% of the time in emergency operations)

• Holder of a Master 2 level diploma, health or public health professional, you have:

• Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in emergency health program management, ideally in degraded contexts. Technical skills:

• Expertise in the fields of assessment and coordination in degraded emergency situations in the health sector, Good working knowledge of the international humanitarian system and the WHO Emergency Medical Team initiative;

• fluency in French and English essential.
