Who We Are

Social Ventures Australia (SVA) is an innovative social impact organisation operating across Australia.

We use our broad outlook, transformational thinking, and trusted voice to lead the charge against inequality in Australia. We were created over 20 years ago to find innovative solutions to entrenched social problems and speed up the rate of positive social change.

We think differently, help redesign systems by learning about what works in communities, and work hand in hand with our passionate partners to take real action and achieve positive social change.

The Employment Team

The Employment program is one of SVA’s Social Impact Initiatives. The team’s current program of work focuses on delivering the Rebuilding the Career Ladder Initiative, whereby the team works closely with employers, young people, and academic partners to mobilise a network of employers committed to increasing quality jobs and career pathways for young people experiencing disadvantage.

The Role

The Employment Evidence and Practice Adviser identifies and promotes the application of good practice by employers in creating quality jobs and careers for young people at risk of economic exclusion.

They will support the Rebuilding the Career Ladder project by investigating good practice and ensuring our work reflects the best available evidence. They will generate new information and insights by documenting leading employer practice and effective employer-nonprofit collaborations.

Your Benefits

  • Work in a business with a track record of driving meaningful social change including being awarded Best CSR Innovation by the Australian Financial Review (AFR) in 2023.
  • Be part of the SVA team known for living by our values to put people at the centre and be open and ready to learn.
  • Work in a team that offers flexibility and a hybrid work model that is specific to you and recognises that work is only one of our priorities.
  • Join a business which prioritises personal wellbeing and development, including an additional week’s leave after working with SVA for two continuous years.

Who You Are

You are knowledgeable in, and passionate about, the employment, training, and retention of youth, including those from Culturally and Racially Marginalised backgrounds, First Nations backgrounds, young people with disabilities, and young people from low socio-economic backgrounds.

Your experience may span across one or more of the following areas: diversity, equity and inclusion, disability employment, human resources, industrial relations, vocational education and training (VET) and/or work placement support.

You bring demonstrated experience researching, sharing and promoting evidence-based practice for a diverse range of employer audiences in a way that makes sense to them. You are a builder and nurturer of strong networks and relationships, recognising the value of building coalitions to create positive change. You are open and ready to learn, recognising the complexity of entrenched social issues and that it is essential to continuously test and refine your approach to achieve the best outcomes.
