The ENCJ is a network of national Councils for the Judiciary and alternative judicial governance institutions of the EU Member states and EU Candidate states, promoting and reinforcing judicial independence and the Rule of Law.

The ENCJ is currently looking for a Policy and Administrative intern, ideally starting from 12 January 2026 (Brussels, Belgium).

The role has a strong policy and legal focus, requiring excellent writing skills and in-depth knowledge of the justice sector and EU policy.

A legal background, interest in the justice sector, and previous experience in communications or social media are highly appreciated.

Desirable profile of the candidate

  • Legal background;
  • Good understanding of justice systems; the functioning of judiciaries, the rule of law;
  • Knowledge and a keen interest in the EU policy;
  • Good writing, project management and communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Fluent English is required – French is preferable, other languages are welcome;
  • Proficiency in MS Office;
  • Comfort with using website content management systems;
  • Interest in social media, a previous experience in the communication/social media are welcome.

Description of tasks

  • Policy tasks (e.g. drafting and designing of ENCJ’s advocacy materials and conducting legal analysis);
  • Administrative tasks (e.g. document management, coordination of project groups);
  • Taking care of various tasks related to project coordination and events;
  • Assisting in producing communication material to increase the outreach (articles, press releases, posters, brochures, illustrations, videos, etc.);
  • Helping manage ENCJ’s social media advocacy and outreach activities, and monitor their effectiveness;
  • Web content management.

What we offer

  • A contract d’immersion professionelle (CIP) contract in accordance with Belgian law; monthly public transportation reimbursement;

  • Starting date: 12 January 2025 (preferable);
  • Duration: 5 months (until 12 June 2026).

Deadline for application: Wednesday, 3 December 2025, by noon. Interviews will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis, and this opening may be closed earlier, should a suitable candidate be found. The final set of interviews is planned for 8-12 December 2025.
