Energy Policy Officer
Full-time Contract of 12 Months (with Possible Renewal), Ideally Starting in April 2024

BEUC, The European Consumer Organisation, is currently looking for a policy officer based in Brussels to reinforce its Energy Team.
The tasks of the position will include:
- Contributing to our advocacy work related to the legislative framework of EU energy policies and more specifically to the setting of new priorities in the field of energy for the next Commission’s and European Parliament’s mandates;
- Contributing to the implementation of a project focusing on electricity markets, with a specific focus on demand-side flexibility;
- Providing BEUC members with information and advice on energy related topics;
- Preparing position papers as well as technical briefings Representing BEUC with the media, in public events and relevant stakeholder groups.
The main qualifications we are looking for are:
- An advanced University degree in EU policy, economics, law, environmental science or equivalent;
- At least 3 years relevant experience working in the energy sector;
- Sound understanding of EU energy policy;
- Very good understanding of the EU policy-making process and sound experience in lobbying the EU institutions;
- Strong networking, interpersonal and communication skills;
- Fluency in English, excellent writing skills and good presentation skills;
- Solid organisational skills, capability to handle deadlines and ability to perform under pressure, team player.
Added value:
- Good understanding of consumer issues and a commitment to advancing the interests of consumers in the green and fair transition;
- Experience in co-operating with an EU wide network; and
- Project management skills including managing budgets;
- Knowledge of additional European languages;
- A full-time contract of 12 months (possibly renewable) with a competitive package (salary, fringe benefits, extra-legal paid leaves, flexitime).
