WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
Housed within The Nature Conservancy’s , the Nature for Water Facility (‘N4W’) is a technical assistance outfit that provides hand-in-hand support to local champions seeking to develop watershed investment programs. N4W aims to support 40-60 place-based engagements globally over four years via pro-bono and fee-for-service partnerships. The Engagement Consultant works with Local Partners, Science Leads, and Engagement Managers to support multidisciplinary teams of internal and external experts that are staffed to deliver watershed investment programs in various geographic contexts. The Consultant will assist multiple concurrent teams and drive analysis relating to program evaluation and structuring, including developing Return on Investment (ROI) analyses, developing governance structures, and evaluating funding strategies. Furthermore, this position will assist with client origination efforts, including developing scopes of work and associated agreements.

WE’RE LOOKING FOR YOU
We’re looking for a sustainability champion with experience in water, agriculture, or climate change. A background in watershed Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) is a plus. Analytical and quantitative background is desired. The position is full-time and fully remote.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assess the specific needs and context of watershed engagements to determine project scope.
- Identify and engage key actors and diverse stakeholders in cities and catchments.
- Produce high-quality research and analysis that combines technical, social, environmental, institutional, financial, and economic project elements.
- Assist in developing financial models and cost-benefit analyses.
- Assist on developing governance and funding structures.
- Assist with assessing ecosystem services benefits and conducting costing of Nature Based Solutions investment programs.
- Assist with drafting proposals and contract agreements for client engagements.
- Manage contract vendors, including issuing terms of reference, managing contractor workflows, and ensuring the integrity of final outputs.
- Present outputs in stakeholder and/or client meetings, publications, and conferences.
- Collaborate with the knowledge management staff of the Nature for Water Facility team to refine standard processes, procedures, and templates over time.
- May require frequent travel (up to 15%) domestically and/or internationally.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Environmental Science, Business Science, Resource Management, Engineering or related field and 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination.
- Experience supporting complex projects and strategic initiatives in an unstructured environment.
- Analytical and project management experience.
- Fluency in English.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Multi-lingual skills and multicultural experiences are highly desired (in particular, Spanish, French, or Portuguese)
- Post-graduate degree in an appropriate field, including (but not limited to) Business, Environmental or Natural Resource Economics, Engineering (Civil or Environmental), Environmental Sciences.
- Experience facilitating diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in project finance and/or consultancy settings.
- Experience in Nature Based Solutions project design and implementation.
- Strong team player who can build relationships and work collaboratively across the organization and with partners.
