About the role:

In April 2022, the NSW Government announced the establishment of temporary housing sites to accommodate the urgent housing needs emerging from the February 2022 storms and floods in the Northern Rivers region of NSW.

NRH has been contracted by the NSW Government to deliver tenancy management and site maintenance of 7 Villages across the Region. The homes in the Villages can house between one individual to families and are supplemented by supporting infrastructure and amenities. Ultimately the objectives of the program delivered by NRH, is to support residents achieve their longer-term housing goals.

As part of a supportive and dynamic team, the NRH Community Village Engagement Coordinator is responsible for delivering innovative participation and engagement activities for NRH Community Villages. The role will be primarily responsible for coordinating activity, delivering the engagement and communications to raise awareness and build participation that brings together the residents within the NRH Community Villages, with a particular focus on developing activities which foster positive mental health and linkages to employment and housing pathways in the wider community.

This a fixed term (12 months, with possibility of extension) position based in the Northern Rivers region of NSW.

The successful candidate will work in a full-time capacity and can be based in our Ballina, Lismore or Tweed Heads offices with the ability to work from home some days. The Engagement Coordinator will be required to travel to our NRH Community Village locations on a weekly basis.

About you:

  • Experience in the coordination of events, workshops and activities to build high levels of participation
  • Experience in project coordination with a focus on resident involvement and satisfaction
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, including the ability to liaise with residents, staff and external organisations to establish effective professional relationships
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with proven ability to manage multiple tasks and readjust workload priorities to meet conflicting deadlines
  • Demonstrate personal accountability, and a proven ability to achieve outcomes
  • Be willing to collaborate and support colleagues in a small team
  • Be open to working on a Saturday and/or Sunday if required (penalty rates will apply).

Other experience, knowledge and skills we would like you to have:

  • Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain this
  • National Police Check or willingness to obtain this
  • Possession of an unrestricted Australian driver’s licence
  • Experienced in working with vulnerable people and delivering a responsive service to people with complex needs (not required, but preferred)
