The Opportunity

Positioned within the Advocacy, Communication and Engagement department, the Engagement Lead will support Council’s work to creatively and genuinely engage with our community and key stakeholders.

Reporting to the Coordinator Engagement, this role is responsible for supporting the delivery of Council’s Engagement Policy and working with teams across Council to build an internal community of practice and resources for staff.

This position supports the organisation to implement and utilise public-facing engagement tools including online engagement platforms, as well as providing support to the Advocacy team.

Skills & Experience

  • Understanding of IAP2 principles and experience in effective community engagement design, delivery and evaluation.
  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, community planning, community development or a related field, along with relevant demonstrated experience.
  • Community research skills and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management including an ability to manage complex projects and deliver effective outcomes.
  • The ability to build strong relationships, communicate effectively and in a range of mediums across all levels of Council and with partner agencies.
  • High level interpersonal and written communication skills, and the ability to prepare engagement materials, reports and project plans across a range of audiences/mediums with varied timeframes.
