IT Services are looking for an experienced developer to provide best practice technical expertise in web application development and integration for the University’s student systems, including student records and the student portal.
UWE Bristol has adopted modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Next.JS), and architectural approaches, JAMStack and micro services. The Engineer (Web) role will work alongside other Engineers, Analysts and Testers in Agile delivery teams to deliver new services and integrations for student systems.
IT Services is committed to delivering exceptional performance from the University’s information technology systems and invest in the people who design, develop and support them. IT Services works in a hybrid way offering the flexibility to work both on campus and at home depending on project or team needs.
About you:
You will have a strong web application development background with experience of integrating and supporting enterprise web-based systems. You are a motivated, effective team worker who can work independently and keen to continuously learn new technologies.
You will have experience in a range of web development technologies including modern JavaScript frameworks such as React.js and Next.JS. In addition, you will have a track record of adopting best practice coding standards, including application security and accessibility.
You will also have experience of working in agile delivery teams.

Interviews are scheduled to take place at our Frenchay Campus on 26th March 2024.
There are 2 full-time, fixed-term post for 2 years, working 37 hours per week.
This post is available on a job share basis for applicants wishing to work part time.
UWE Bristol is a campus-based University and it is vital to our success and the delivery of an outstanding experience for our students that our campuses are dynamic and vibrant places to learn and spend time. This role is therefore campus based for at least a day per week, with the opportunity to work from home on the remaining days.
