To be able to reach this ambitious goal we are looking for talented individuals who, in addition to their passion for their own role, also have strong team spirit and want to contribute to supporting a meaningful corporate mission.Job DescriptionThe Operational Unit Heat Projects within Vattenfall develops and implements all of Vattenfall’s new-build Combined Heat & Power plants and District Heating plant projects. The Engineering Department – within Heat Projects – consists of an international team of highly qualified engineers from different disciplines and engineering managers. The department is responsible for the technical aspect of the development and execution of projects. This includes drafting up requirements, valuating concepts, developing concepts into market ready designs, guide process of hiring a construction contractor, coordinating the installation works, commissioning and hand-over of the new plants to the future operator. It is of vital importance that this happens in consultation with the stakeholders. In addition, the engineering department supports the projects with schedule preparation, investment cost estimation and quality management.Vattenfall will convert the assets for generation of electricity and district heating to sustainable technologies to meet our mission of “fossil freedom”. In this context, the Engineering Division will in the future continuously deepen its knowledge and experience with innovative technologies (P2G, P2H, H2 technologies, heat pumps, etc.).In the UK Vattenfall Heat is working on building new district heating networks for large areas and cities. In order to support the development and implementation of our technical activities in an extensive project portfolio, we are looking for the following person to join our team at Vattenfall.Engineering ManagerYour tasks:

• Accountable for engineering workstream on the project, including setting up engineering team with internal members and external supply chain Implementation and coordination of construction projects in compliance with process engineering.
• Coordinating the design development of the project throughout the phases. Setting out design requirements to engineers, monitoring quality matching the project phase.
• Keep close aligned with Project Manager to assist and provide information from and to stakeholders.
• Preparation of project phase-dependent documents (terms of reference, tenders for design consultants, co, etc.)
• Preparation of cost estimates
• Participation in project meetings, negotiations, evaluation of bids and preparation of award recommendations
• Ensuring quality assurance and quality control during the planning, tendering, construction, commissioning and operation phases
• Participation in inter-project and inter-departmental exchanges of experience
• Preparation of meeting reports and presentations
• Keep up-to-date on happenings in project and technological developments of the market.
• In this role, you report to the Project Manager within a project and to the Manager Development/Execution Engineering, be a sparring partner for the Project Manager and the rest of the project management team
• Using “people skills” to build and motivate engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in process engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or power plant engineering and experience in planning and project management.
• Experience in the operation of district heating and combined heat and power plants is an advantage
• Professional skills include a sound knowledge of heat generation processes as well as the interface of generation plants to district heating networks
• Personal competencies include leadership qualities and excellent analytical skills
• Good focus on safety and safety in design
• Experience in scheduling and engineering processes
• Experience in working in teams, including cultural sensitivity
• Knowledge of UK standards and regulation when it comes down to project governances
• Working on interdisciplinary topics and interfaces with other departments are obligatory for you
